Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

5 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

A friend of mine has either a 2000 or 2001 "Carrera 4." It doesn't look like it is a 'wide body' but guys at the dealership seem to say that the Carrera 4 is a wide body car. I suspect to be a wide body it needs to be a Carrera 4S. TIA We measured it against my NB 997S and mine is slightly wider. This is the data I have collected over the months,--but not sure which specific models fall under which. Narrow Body * 996 - width 69.70" * 997 - width 71.18" Wide Body * 996 - width 72.00" * 997 - width 72.91"

POST 2Original post

You're right - dealer is wrong. 996 C4 is narrow body the C4S is the widebody 996 C2, C4 Targa Length 69.7" / 1770mm 996 C4S Length 72.1" / 1830mm

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks. I knew you guys were always right,--and fast! I think what happens is that dealerships/salesmen quickly forget the specs on models once they are not on the sales floor.

POST 4Original post

The 3.4l C4 have a stiffer chasis ( GT3 uses the same tub ), but aren't wider.

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Many thanks. That's interesting to hear that the chassis is stiffer with the 3.4L C4 cars (shared with GT3). The 997 series also has a NB for the GT3, while the GT3RS gets the WB.
