Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I want to polish my tips and I have removed the one screw on top of the tip, but it wont budge. Is there a second fastener somewhere that I am missing?

POST 2Original post

I’m having the same issue. Simply not willing to budge. Highly recommend using a soft sponge and bar keepers friend and rinse thoroughly!

POST 3Original post

You don't say what kind of 996 you have. My 996.2 targa exhaust tips are held on by a short bolt that goes in through the bottom of the frontmost edge of the tip. I took those out but needed to 'persuade' the tips to come off with a hammer and wood block.

POST 4Original post

I figured it out, at least on my 996tt non x50/s tips. After taking out the rusted bolts, jam a flat head screwdriver at the split of the ring and rotate the whole tip pulling slowly and it came right off.

POST 5Original post

Spray all around the pipe/tip clampWD40, too and it will help a lot.
