Build date? On the drivers side build plate. Hard to tell since lots and lots of ims have been replaced. Maybe the replacement work is in with the maintenance records? Good luck,,,,more to determine if you purchase than ims,,,,have a qualified technician do a pre purchase inspection.

This is an original factory installed engine and it decodes to a 1999 C4 Coupe: M96.02 - engine type exclusive to the C4 68X - Year of Manufacture - 1999 03386 - serial number Option codes: C08 - Country of Origin - Japan 139 - seat heating, left 249 - Tiptronic Transmission, 5-speed 288 - Headlamp washer 340 - Seat Heating, right 425 - Rear Window Wiper 432 - Tiptronic Button for Steering Wheel 436 - 3-spoke Steering Wheel 446 - Wheel caps with colored Porsche crest 601 - Litronic (xenon) headlamps L3AU - Glacer White Paint YES, this is a dual row IMS bearing car. However, that bearing could have been changed out. Always trust, but verify!
