I wouldn't have such a problem with this except I had my car in for a CEL before the warranty was up and they said it was the MAF at that time.
Leading evidence: 'maf at' (1 discussions report identifying this cause; no attributable repair resolution). Across 1 matching discussions, the most frequently mentioned possible cause is 'maf at' (1 discussions; 1 report identifying it and 0 suggest it). The most frequently discussed action is 'Check on my alternator and said' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

I pretty positive though that I need to replace the MAF.

The car had 31k miles and I always used a stock paper filter.

They also ran a check on my alternator and said that it was underperforming.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Well I've been trying to diagnose an idling problem with my car and took it to my local dealer. They said my MAF was the problem and would like $500 for the part and one unit of labor @ 89.50/hr to replace it. I wouldn't have such a problem with this except I had my car in for a CEL before the warranty was up and they said it was the MAF at that time. They blamed it on my K&N and said they "cleaned" it and if it had anymore problems "let us know". Well now that I'm letting them know @ 32,000 they don't want to have anything to do with it. They also ran a check on my alternator and said that it was underperforming. It is putting out 12.79 Volts and 60 Amps. I'm not sure what normal is but it does seem a little low. They wanted $750 for the alternator plus 2 1/2 units of labor. I came home and looked online and I can buy a new MAF for $272 and a new alternator for $288 and do the work myself. I'm not sure if I need the alternator or not when idling my meter shows 12 volts and sits between 12 and 14 while driving. Any comments? Also should I push a little harder for PCNA to replace my MAF or just go ahead and buy one. And before anyone comments I do plan on buying a stock paper filter. Thanks.

I HOPE I CAN BE OF ASSISTANCE.
I replaced the MAF on my 99 C2 a few months ago, shortly before I sold it, because of a CEL. The car had 31k miles and I always used a stock paper filter. The shop (not a dealer) charged me three hundred something for parts & labor if I remember correctly.
My MAF sensor went bad on my 99 cab and my wife's 2000 Mercedes about the same time probably both Bosch. Both replaced under warrenty. I think the MAF sensors of that era had a lot of failures I hope the ones I have now are better.
My MAF went out on my '99 (now sold) at about 30k miles. The CE light was on after the 30K service and they went for the MAF first. CEL was back on later, so they dug deeper on the readout. The tech was super on the readout report...found some unusual levels in the engine, dug deep and found a blown bellows tube. It's a small part, but labor is a beast. You might want to get those readings first. MAF sensor was around $450 complete and takes only 10 minutes to do, if that. Bellows Tube is more time.
