Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

10 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

greetings, with the 951 sold, i'm looking at early 996's. Tiptronic is mandatory - and there are a couple of really nice examples that i've found that are in consideration. But i haven't seen any tiptronic TARGAS out there. i realize that targas are rare, but HOW rare - and how much smaller is the list when a Tip is thrown in? i'd appreciate any leads on 996 targa/tips that are for sale....thanks!

POST 2Original post

I don't think they made the Targa till 02, I've never seen a early 996 in a Targa.

POST 4Original post

Do a preowned search in the main porsche site.. for targa,I saw 24 total US dealerships, some are certified... good luck

POST 5Original post

I did a used search on the Porsche site. I found only 3 Targas with Tiptronic transmission and all 3 are 2003 model year cars. Two of the cars are Artic Silver with Black standard interior and the third car is Seal Grey with Black standard interior. Here is the info on each. Hope this helps! 911 (996) Targa 2003 Silver/Grey 13,104 $ 62,000 Fred Lavery Porsche Co. 911 (996) Targa 2003 Silver/Grey 4,309 $ 74,900 South Shore Porsche 911 (996) Targa 2003 Silver/Grey 19,625 $ 63,900 Motor Werks of Barrington

POST 7Original post

that speed yellow targa is very nice - it seems quite rare to find the targas in any color other than silver/grey

POST 8 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

the really do command a bit of a premium, don't they - considering that there are 02/03 coupes that are in the 40's...how much more were the targas new in reference to a coupe?

POST 9Original post

I was just looking through autotrader.com today. There are quite a few used targas that are tip. Mostly silver and seal grey.

POST 10Original post

Those dealer prices are quite high. Targas sold at similar prices to cabs when new, and although they are less common, I would think the used market would be similar to cabs as well. That speed yellow Targa is pretty cool, if you are looking for a Tip. The dark roof actually tones down the "flying banana" look a little. And the car is loaded with options.
