Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

13 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi. i have been looking around for a 911 for a while, i really liked the 997S, but i think it is a bit above my budget now so i am looking for a 03-04 C4S. I noticed on Ebay that prices of the 01 TT is dropping (as discussed in other thread, some are in the low 60s) and i started looking at other places and i also found couple 01 TT on the mid 60s. My question is, is there any particular problem with the 01 TT? since it is the 1st year model. can you buy additional warranty from porsche if the original CPO 6 years expired? also, do you guys prefer the 01 TT instead of the 03-04 C4S? any feedback would be apreciated. Thanks

POST 2Original post

TT......for me its a non issue, but it depends on what you want the car for. There is no big problems with the 01 that I am aware of, try posting in the 996 TT forum

POST 3Original post

I think the 01-02 TT represent one of the best values in the sport car market. They are basically bullet proof and need little maintenance. I would have no reservations picking one up with higher miles. As always a PPI is a must. Look at wearable items: brakes, clutch, tires, etc. No RMS problems like the 996. Very little difference from 01 to 02 - glove box, bose, flat black interior buttons instead of gloss black. Early 01's had "warts" on front bumper and solid spoke wheels. To me a TT over a C2S or C4S is a no brainer especially if you like HP. The 996TT is easily buildable into serious HP with little $$ and they are still drivable daily. Plus there are a lot of example to chose from and more on the way with the 997TT just around the corner.

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

My only serious concern is if i do get the 01, i have no warranty. And i do not want to pay expensive services, fixing problems etc. Is there any common problem i should be aware of? So it is more the case of a 01 TT no waranty VS 03-04 C4S warranty (CPO til 09). The cars itself is a no brainer of course but im just concerned that the money i saved buying the older TT will be spent (or even more) on services. What do you guys think?

POST 5Original post

The C4S is arguably and upgrade on a CII whereas the TT is every ones dream. Don't hesitate and let us know how you find it, with pics of course.

POST 6Original post

TT, it' basically indestructable, who cares if the warranty is gone.

POST 7 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

i heard that you might need to change transmission or even the engine if you get higher mileage TT (40-50K), is that true?

POST 8Original post

I'm not sure where this is coming from. I've not heard anything like this.

POST 9 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

So 40k on a TT is ok? what about the clutch/transmission?

POST 10Original post

I agree with Chris and Todd , I've never heard of those issue youre talking about. You should search a little bit more, there should be some CPO TT's around Go for the TT first of all you got the addicting boost and you got everything the C4S got; 4wheel drive and a big ***,lol

POST 12Original post

The C4S talks the talk; the TT walks the walk.

POST 13Original post

Simple choice - the C4S talks the talk, but the TT walks the walk.
