Both thin wood trim (dark birch) pieces on the dashboard of my 996 are cracked. Any recommendations on where to purchase other than the dealer?

My new 01 has the same thing...don't replace them with wood b/c it will just do it again. Replace with the colored plastic...recommended by everyone I talked to. Why they would put wood in the hottest area of the car is beyond me!

Funny they would do that? Do you know where I can find the colored plastic? Did you install it in your car or have you seen it? I'm curious to know how well it will blend in?
