Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

3 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

  • Rennlist: 1 discussions

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

So I installed the rear set of PSS9's today they are a bit tricky to get in but with the help of a Jack and thick flat head I was ablt to seat the bottom. Again I am hoping I used the right parts since the Bilstein manual SUCKS. I ended up with the shock, spring and rubber/plastic perch on top of the spring. When I went to fasten the top (inside the car) I found that the OEM nut has wider threads so I was not about to muscle it on. Did anyone else have this problem in the guide it says that the nut is reused (Origal equipment) but I just don't feel right about the size of the threads. Can someone post am interior shot for me? I have the thin nut that keeps the adjustin nut in place. So I guess I will go down to HD and find a similar threaded nut. It took me a few hours to do the rear and sways I think this is definatley a 5-6 Hour job for the first timer. I had fun doing it and saved some money to justify other mods!!!

POST 2 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

So I finally got someone at Bilstein that could help I left 2 messages for two guys with no call back. Finally today I spoke with a guy that confrmed my questions. My kit was missing 2 M12 nuts which have a fine thread pitch and the two rubber gaskets/dampners that go ontop of the rear spring perch hats (or whatever there real name is) So they are sending me the missing parts. I found some old threads on the 993 forum from Viperbob that said "Don't forget the black rubber gaskets" I am glad I found that thread because I saw that part in the bilstein diagram but I did not have them. Also I got some torque specs the top nuts front 54Lbs and rear top nut 34Lbs hopefully this info helps someone in the future. Bad news I need to take the rear shocks off to install the missing gaskets.

POST 3Original post

ouch. that sucks. you'll be a suspension expert before this is done i didn't really pay too close attention to what parts were and weren't used on my install. Viperbob did mine, so I think I'm pretty safe with the job being done right ( knock on wood) At least the rears are pretty simple on the coupe.
