hi all, i have changed my hood gold crest - to a silver one, and i really need to do the same on the horn-wheel steering crest. the question is: did ever this part came out as silver from the factory, and if yes please state on wich model was that? my car is a 996 C2 01 with the 3 spoke w-s. thanks

I have a factory silver crest on my 3 spoke steering wheel. I *think* its default for C4's, just like the silver brake calipers. I got a 2000 C4

It's the default for MY 2000--sometimes called the "millineum" crest. If you were local, I'd swap with you, but I'm in SF Bay Area, CA. Good luck!

where did you all get the hood crest (silver) and was it hard to switch out? i would also like to get a silver steering wheel crest? thanks in advance!

The silver crest can be had from several sources (roughly $85). As for the wheel, you need to buy the new airbag and specify silver crest. Or swap with somebody that wants gold that has a model year 2000 since it came with the MY2000 cars. There are places that sell "stick on" silver crest for the airbag but that is VERY dangerous since the factory crest is held onto the bad and will not become a flying projectile like the stick on would become if your airbag were to discharge!

I bought one of the stick on ones on eBay for $12 shipped. The quality seems to be very good, much better than the price would suggest. I haven't installed it yet. The plan is to drill out the old one and epoxy this one on.
