Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

The problem was caused by a faulty crank position sensor.
Leading evidence: 'caused by a faulty crank position sensor' (1 discussions report identifying this cause; no attributable repair resolution). Across 1 matching discussions, the most frequently mentioned possible cause is 'caused by a faulty crank position sensor' (1 discussions; 1 report identifying it and 0 suggest it). The most frequently discussed action is 'Check fuses c1 and c2' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

Suggestion
I would check the main power to the injectors, coils, MAF, change-over valves ect.

If this hasn't been checked yet find a different mech.

Suggestion
If the ecu doesn't see crankshaft turning it won't run the fuel pump or fire the plugs.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I'm glad you got the problem fixed, although these 2 quotes are mutually exclusive.

My Indie mechanic gave me an update on the no fuel pressure situation. He jumped the relay and had fuel pressure but the the car wouldn't start as the fuel injectors would not work. He's thinking and perusing the theory of a malfunction in the theft protection circuit. I am hoping it's not related to the main ecu. Any thoughts? Bro

Ask you mech what the diagnostic tool showed for cranking RPM.
If this hasn't been checked yet find a different mech.
I have seen the vario-cam solenoids start to short out and drop the voltage to the injectors, coils, MAF , ect. and cause a no start and a stall at times, and if the short becomes sever enough it would blow the main fuse...
I would check the main power to the injectors, coils, MAF, change-over valves ect. to ensure they are indeed getting 12v+ during start/run ..
Good news! My indy mechanic just called and told me it's fixed. He explained the delay in getting to it as other work was in progress. The problem was caused by a faulty crank position sensor. And the real good news....the bill is $387.00. We have a 350 mile trip to Bend Or planned for tomorrow, I will ask him if he would take the Porsche! Bob
