Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

18 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

The engine lid was not staying open so I changed the single strut on the right side of my 99 996 C2 Cab. It entailed supporting the lid with a 3x 2inch block of wood, removing two small bolts on the side of the lid, Nothing else, snapping away the arm top and bottom and re-snapping the new one into place and replacing the two bolts. That's it in less than 5 minutes. The easiest DIY job I ever had to do so far on the car.

POST 2Original post

while you were at it, you didnt decide to remove some of the lettering off the back did you

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

haha nice one... No I decided to leave them on. I saw that the latest model Carrera added those letters after they saw mine.. lol

POST 4Original post

Why no 3.6l variocam sticker? ;-) I think you could actually be onto something if you add (modify) the c4s reflector or get a sticker/reflector made and emboss porsche onto it! Bet you could sell them! Pretty sure a vinyl sign maker could knock them up!

POST 5Original post

The back of the 991's look like an eye chart with all the letters!

POST 6 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

oh no that's going over the top I think lol. The rear Porsche and 911 lettering which I added is all raised black lettering matching up with the original Carrera letters.. I added the aluminum pedal covers and brighter bulbs for the head lights. I bought it with the 18inch wheels, 3 spoke steering wheel and aluminum gear stick. Other than that, the car is "all original'. It still has the pumpkins which I think look great. I love the appearance of the car and that's what really matters.

+1 ....your car....you are the one that have to like it.....

POST 8Original post

I think there is room there somewhere to add "Cabriolet".

POST 9Original post

Slightly more on topic, I replace the shocks in the "frunk" this weekend. I knew mine were weak, but I was really surprised at how firm the new ones were! It takes a decent pull to get the hood to start downwards and then gets easier...Nice way to bring things back to "like new".

Good job! I will likely do this soon, and I will find a way to turn this into a 3 hour job. Guaranteed.

POST 11Original post

They just cant leave it alone, right Hurdi? Like I said before, the new ones are copy cats.

POST 12 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

That's true K and I don't really mind. When they are having goes at me they are leaving others alone haha.

Hey Dallison you are in Harrisburg.. I am in Ephrata and visit Enola (across the river) occasionally when we visit my mother in law. Actually I am flying out of Harrisburg to the UK this coming Tuesday for a couple of weeks. I am a Brit living here and going to visit family over there.

POST 15Original post

Can you post the part number and what you paid? The reason I ask is because on my Infiniti the dealer wanted $600 to replace the 2 hood struts. I found the struts for a Nissan Titan that fit my car perfectly for $40 total, and it took me maybe 10 minutes to replace both of them. Looks like the dealer must have had a tuition bill he had to pay and thought I should help out.

the trash man has been and info lost. What I do remember it was a Stabilus Lift-o-mat less than $30 ..I saw one cheaper than that at about $14 but the right up on that one was a bad write up. The one I got was top rated and most expensive. My 99 996 has only one strut on the right side. It simply clicked right into place.
