Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hello everyone, I'm recently having issues shifting my 04 911 into 2 and 3rd. It feels very rubbery to shifting almost like a mushy type feeling. So i just throw it into 3rd instead and it goes in. I'm also finding myself having to put my foot behind my clutch pedal to lift it back up. Never had this issue before. Any help guys I want to know what these are symptoms of my problems are Thanks everyone. MB.

POST 2Original post

It sounds like a hydraulic or pressure plate issue if you have to manually bring the clutch pedal back up. That would definitely affect the gear change. I wouldnt drive it until figuring out what the issue is as it could be putting a lot of wear on those synchros if the clutch isnt fully disengaging when you shift.

How do I go about checking the clutch the way you started ? I'm not to familiar with this part of my car yet, can you tell me how to go about it? Thank you, MB.

POST 4Original post

It does sound hydraulic. U have clutch master cylinder on the fire wall and a slave cyl on top of the trans. U need to make sure the brake master cly is full as it feeds the clutch. If its not full u have a leak and u need to find it. The clutch master can leak through the front seal and wet the firewall on the inside. The slave can leak into the trans bellhousing and u may not be able to see it. I would not drive it until u figure it out as u can damage the trans and that can get very expensive to fix.

How does the car shift into 1st gear from an idle/stop..? Does it go into 1st gear easy/smooth without any noise or resistance from a complete stop. Does car creep away from a stop when in 1st gear, clutch fully depressed, without brakes on..?
