The car has 72,000 miles on it and the engine was replaced by Porsche back in 2003 due to failure, so presumably the IMS/RMS issues were dealt with then.

Greetings: My indy mechanic informed me my 2003 c4 requires replacement of the starter/alternator ground cable due to hot start problems. And, since he indicated the engine must be dropped to replace the cable , I should go ahead and replace the clutch at that time, since its down to about 20%. The clutch shows no signs of any slippage although it is quite stiff. I was quoted $5,000 to replace cable and clutch, which seems quite high. I would greatly appreciate any feedback on the following: Does the engine need to be dropped to replace the ground cable? Does the engine need to be dropped to replace the clutch?
