Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Leading evidence: 'Adjust pics' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, the most frequently mentioned possible cause is 'angle's going' (1 discussions; 0 report identifying it and 1 suggest it). The most frequently discussed action is 'Adjust pics' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

Is there a way to adjust the pipe they connect to?

Anyway, it looks like you can just twist the tips to point up quite a bit more to fill the gap, but likely the angle's going to be off.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

So, I thought i would give it a shot and buy these ebay bypass pipes. I finally got them and they fit like crap... It seems like they are hanging too low. The gap between the tip and the bumper is huge. Is there a way to adjust the pipe they connect to? Any ideas?
Does this just bypass the mufflers or the cats, or both? Seems like it'd be way too loud regardless?
Anyway, it looks like you can just twist the tips to point up quite a bit more to fill the gap, but likely the angle's going to be off. If your motor mounts are in good shape, indeed they appear not to be the best fit.
Got mine from eBay as well, but havnt installed em yet. The bypass pipes seem to be level whether from bay or fabspeed. If all is good w ur mounts, u always have the option of going to a muffler shop and have the bent. I wonder how mine will fit :/
I think you are looking for more adjustment then there would ever be. How do they sound? Could you shorten the pipe before the bend and look for a "s" to put in its place? Just a thought.
I have these on my track car... They fit that way (as do the Fabspped version) The location is a function of the cat. pipes. Should you really want them closer to the bumper... then, a trip to the muffler shop for an extra tweak. These things are loud for a DD.
I've been driving around for a week without mufflers... It just adds a little more excitement to my 3 mile drive everyday. They arent that loud. ( I used to work around jet engines all day, a flat six motor is nothing)
Many people do not appreciate the increased tone. My car was driven to clients (3 hr drive) and would be enjoyable... Clients did not like riding around town in it.
Well they didnt cut completely through the pipe, they cut slice out, bent it up and welded the cut back together... That was the only spot to cut the pipe to "lift" it up..
you can do the same.... angle the tips up, then slice behind the tips to angle it down... in this case angle it level. This way, you can get fairly close to the bumper to make it look stock position without seeing any weld mounts since it will be higher up tucked in the bumper.
No biggie, It looks good, Im just sayin.
Yeah really, it looks like they did a rather nice job. I'm also glad to see you still have your cats. Factory cats are fairly high flow, and do a bit of muffling of their own, not to mention the obvious environmental benefit to having them. Alas, even aftermarket mufflers are too loud for me, but to each his own.
You just made changing your spark plugs a 5 minute job while saving a lot of weight from back there!
I think you could get them to fit up a little better but this whole thread is
"I've been driving around for a week without mufflers"
"I basically bought them for the looks"
"They arent that loud. ( I used to work around jet engines all day, a flat six motor is nothing)"
WHAT ???
LOL...
I'm a bit of a perfectionist when it comes to cars, etc.. That is why i do most maintenance myself. I was hanging over the tech's shoulder while he whipped out a oxyacetylene torch under the car and about 6 inches from my bumper and coolant lines. He actually wanted to spray paint the welds with the pipes on the car, I told him, " I dont think so buddy, your going to do that after you take the pipes back off on the other side of your garage." Overall, I'd give the job a "C" because if you look close enough the drivers side tip sticks out a little bit compared to the passenger side. Plus the weld is a bit sloppy, in my opinion. OH WELL...
You get what you pay for. My Fabspeeds fit and look factory. They aren't for everyone, that's for sure. Long trips can be a bit harsh. I'll try and get pics to compare factory vs Fabspeed...
Now, I trust that y'all will tell me if this is a dumb question, but assuming that everything is sized and bent properly, why would a guy spend hundreds of dollars more for the Fabspeed pipes? What could the difference possibly be?
those are not fabspeed.... they are ebay specials like this.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/NEW-P...Q5fAccessories
the diff is that you pay for that fabspeed stamp.... didnt they tell you that adds 10hp.
Make sure you take out both pieces of the old muffler pipe. If you only take off one piece, the bypass pipes will be too long by about 3 inches. Then you'll go and have them cut/rewelded, and then figure out that there was another part of the pipe that had to come off...ask me how I know
i know fabspeed puts a stamp on their regular exhausts.
do they also put a stamp on their bypass pipes?
if so, that would be the easiest way to tell the difference. thanks!
Look, Dont even bother buying the fabspeed; your just paying for the name. Remember that you are just buying a pipe that is about 1 1/2 ft long to redirect the exhaust.
if i can buy the fabspeed bypass pipes used at almost the same price as the ebay knockoff new, i would get the fabspeed, esp if the welds/durability/size is marginally better.
i would still like to know if the fabspeed stamp exists on their bypass pipes.
