Other than the soiled manual, all on the 4600+ mile trip went as smoothly as a dry-clayed Porsche through the air, used no oil, well, two bars on the Porsche-O-Oil-Meter and lots of bugs.

It was nip and tuck for a while there and the next time I get tires, which as we all know, is as regular as changing the toilet paper rolls when the relatives are over sponging a free meal of beans and franks, Im looking into rain tires.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

We recently returned from our annual trip to the coast and for those savage posters who demand proof in pictures, here are a few. I did have one word of admonition for my fellow Porcherettes, these cars hydroplane. We had just climbed the Wasatch Mountains and were heading up into Wyoming when I hit some water in the road ruts. The car felt like it had roller skates on the back wheels and it was rather alarming. Of course, like any good Porsche owner, I referred to the manual for a solution, which of course was sitting in my lap because there else can you keep it? It was difficult to read the several referenced chapters as I was holding my gin and tonic in my other hand and steering with my knees. I got the beast under control when suddenly I hit some slushy snow and now the car felt like it had roller skates on all four wheels. There was a semi in the right lane next to me and a Dodge 2500 monster truck, which are plentiful in Wyoming, coming up like an angry bill collector behind me, flashing his lights as I tried to slow the car down, not slide into the wheels of the semi and not spill my gin and tonic. I managed to keep control but sadly spilled my gin and tonic all over the manual. It was nip and tuck for a while there and the next time I get tires, which as we all know, is as regular as changing the toilet paper rolls when the relatives are over sponging a free meal of beans and franks, Im looking into rain tires. Other than the soiled manual, all on the 4600+ mile trip went as smoothly as a dry-clayed Porsche through the air, used no oil, well, two bars on the Porsche-O-Oil-Meter and lots of bugs. Great car.

POST 2Original post

Nice! Love the simplicity of the stock MKI against the nice sky in the second to last shot. Use a flash next time to offset the bright back light!

POST 3Original post

You drove slightly more miles in your trip than I do yearly, nice going. thanks for the pics...nice Porsche.

POST 4Original post

Hydroplaning and problems in the snow is all about tires not which car they are on. Looks like a great trip other than those few seconds of fear.
