Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

It's CPO so I suppose I'll have the dealer check fuses, etc.

Once it started it would keep doing it while the car was running even when the system was turned off.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

At around 20 second intervals there is this horrible instantaneous loud static spike through my loudspeakers.
It happens infrequently and I think it might even be related to the alarm, but I'm not sure.
This does not happen while the radio is working, only every once in a while after entry and start-up only.
I have to shut it down because it's such a horrible noise.
The alarm and radio are stock.
Has this happened to anyone else?
Maybe you can help me ...
Thanks.

This happened to me with the Bose system in my 2003 cab. The head unit would lose contact with the 6 disc CD changer while it was playing or changing discs.
The static was almost like a 22 short fired in the stereo in the car, painfull! The only way I could get it to stop was to pull the fuses for the cd and radio. This seemed to "reset" the two of them. The cd changer finally died and since I replaced it no problems.
I don't think it was fuse related, I just pulled them to shut it up. Once it started it would do it even when the system was turned off. When I put them back in it would operate normally until the components got in a tiff again.
I had this problem when I first got my car. Sounded like interference cook a CB radio or something. Very frustrating. It worked itself out eventually- maybe the car sat around too long?
Andy,
This was not like fuzzy static. More like a very loud (painful) crack at full volume that would repeat about every 20 sec. Mine would only start this when the remote CD player was playing and lost touch with the head unit.
Once it started it would keep doing it while the car was running even when the system was turned off.
The system in my 2003 is "hot" even when the key is out.
IE: I can sit in the car with the key in my pocket and turn the stereo on. The only way I could make it stop was to pull the fuses.
