I ended up going with Schaeffer 9000 5W40, hoping that the high HT/HS numbers combined with 5,000 mile oil changes might be a little insurance for the IMS.

French made oil......yeah I used Motul in my sportbikes and dirt bikes but man, they are so horrible at engineering, I wonder how good they could be at oils.......

I prefer Lubro-Moly 5w40 Synethetic. It's the only over the counter oil that stood up to the beating of the RS 4 engine, without getting totally fuel diluted. Here it is compared to Mobil1 0w40:
Granted it's a different motor, and we don't have direct fuel injection, so that's not as much of an issue for us. But it served me well in that car, so I continue to use it in my other cars.

I wonder what the HT/HS number is on the Total. I know that it's high on the Motul. I ended up going with Schaeffer 9000 5W40, hoping that the high HT/HS numbers combined with 5,000 mile oil changes might be a little insurance for the IMS. I've seen a mileage gain of nearly one MPG over the 0W40 M1, plus it's available from a distributor about 30 miles from my house for $107 for a 6 gallon case ($4.50/qt.). I'll be switching to it in my wife's Cayenne S at the next oil change and see if it helps the mileage any in that pig.
