Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

19 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 2Original post

H&R is nice along with a matching pair of shocks..... If you just stick on a lowering coils, you will compress the stock shocks and is no longer effective to handle bumps in its sweet spots of the shocks travel. In other words when you hot bumps... it will create a pogo effect. Boing, Boing, Boing... I would go coilovers or springs and matching shocks if you want to keep the ride inspiring...

POST 3Original post

+1 on what red said ^ about replacing the shocks and the springs or coilovers. You do not want to have to go back and redo it later (and pay the labor a second time).

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

What options are available for shocks if I get H&R, Champion, or TechArt springs, & how much would the shocks run? What is the difference between springs & shocks, or coilovers? Both in difference, amount of lowering, & price? Thanks.

POST 5Original post

You're getting a 360 or a G but you don't want to get a proper suspension for your current car? Hmm... If you do a search on coilovers and/or RoW M030 setup, those threads will give you an idea...

POST 7Original post

My point is... buying a car isn't the same as maintaining. If your 360 needs a cam belt changed, are you going to cheap out then also? Are you going to put just springs on the 360 to "watch" your spending? BTW, your post above shows that you're obviously defensive.

POST 9Original post

RP, Just my 2 cents, but maybe u should rethink spending money on a car you don't intend to keep for very long. Obviously it's going to cost more that $8 bills to do it right. Not trying to tell u what to do with your money, just think u should give it some more thought.

I think that's ultimately what I was trying to say but in a different way. Not questioning working habits, history, biography, or resumes.

POST 11Original post

Hell - why buy new springs? Just pull your factory springs and cut them. That's hella cost effective.

POST 12Original post

Quotes source post: 6406515

NOW we're thinkin.. Do that to the 360 or "G" too to save some money.

Yeah, just seems like one of those moves that 5 yrs from now he might look back and say, "WTF? I could have used that thousand bucks for something better."

POST 14Original post

BTW, OT, but your new steering wheel looks AWESOME! THAT was money well spent.

POST 15 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Alright, alright, I got it. Do it right, or don't do it at all, right? I didn't know doing just springs would ruin the handling/ride so bad like you guys say. Thanks.

POST 16 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Oh, & I said in my OP that my car seems unusually high. It seems like other 996's I see on the road aren't as high. Here's a pic:

POST 17Original post

Stock suspension and 19s? Yeah, that looks about right. Hunt for a used US M030 setup if you want to bring it down just a hair and not spend too much, or do springs and shocks, or do coilovers, or move back to 18s and leave it alone.

POST 18Original post

Personally, I'd do Bilstein Sports + H&Rs if you don't want to spend too much cash. Plan on $800 for the shocks, $300 for the springs and about $500-$750 to install/align it.
