Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

31 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

  • Rennlist: 1 discussions

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

A good friend of mine picked up a beautiful 2003 Carrera 4S coupe several months ago. It has just under 40,000 miles on it today. It's in great shape, with 19 inch rims but otherwise not messed with, and in terrific condition,--still under CPO warranty. What's something like that worth these days? With 997s taking a dive I told him that the 996 cars are heading south as well. TIA

POST 3Original post

nothing, can you forward my name and address to him so he can transfer the title over to me

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks, guys. He's afraid to drive it for fear of putting mileage on it (where have I read THAT before) but I tell him not to save it for the next guy!

POST 7Original post

Afraid? We have just the guy for him. Tim would be more than willing to put some miles on the car for him. Tim is fearless and competent behind the wheel. Why, I bet he could rack up several thousand miles in just a month.... (besides that, Tim needs a job so he might be willing to put the miles on for a lot less than some people might charge) pass along the info and put those two together

POST 8Original post

He'll effectively lose more $ if he doesn't drive it.

POST 9Original post

if he's afriad to drive the car, then don't buy it. I. Just. Do. Not. Get. This. Mindset.

POST 11Original post

Now THAT's an idea...just have Phil drive his car! Maybe it will stop his head from hurting?

POST 12Original post

Quotes source post: 6412581

Hell, I dodn't know that Phil had a brother living in CA!

It's the "trophy" mindset.

POST 14Original post

My trophy has road grime on it ! but I have a smile from putting it there!

POST 15Original post

Tell him to drive it. At that mileage using the car won't hurt at all. The prices are falling whether he uses it or looks at it sit there. May as well use it for what it's made for

POST 16 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks. This is what I tell him. (Hell, I have 35,000 miles on my 06). He's sitting at 39,000 with battery problems (duh!) and with the worst part to come,--not getting to enjoy that fine automobile.

POST 17Original post

so side note, what color is your car Edgy? I've never seen that color on a porsche before. ..Actually I just saw a very similar color on a 928 in town over the weekend. But thats the only time Ive seen a shade of blue like yours.

POST 19 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source post: 6414248

It's blue turquoise,--a 1996-97 Porsche standard color, brought back to life. Few were made in that color back then. (Mex. blue is a bit lighter and more popular). (My friend's car and I out on an outting).

POST 20Original post

Edgy for what its worth, here in Edmonton Alberta Canada the only dealer in the city is asking 69 500 CAD for a 2003 silver and black c4s with 32 900 KM (full leather) There's a 2004 Anniversary edition with 36 000 KM going for 65 500.

The risk is that driving ti will make my head hurt more.

POST 22 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks for all the input. My buddy just doesn't want to hear this stuff (of course,--who would!) It's a beautiful car, but he needs to get over it and DRIVE.

POST 25Original post

Dan, Just send your buddy here to the 996 Forum. We'll badger, cajole, and embarrass him so much that he will eventually submit and drive that car. Unless, of course, he is like Phil and has the rare but fatal "no driving" gene. If that is the case, nothing on earth can help him!

POST 26Original post

I dont know, Phil seemed all ready to get out there this spring and drive his little butt off..... all the way around the block !!

POST 27Original post

Quotes source post: 6416614

Car's out of hibernation - but around the block? You're being optimistic.

POST 28Original post

LOL, my forcast is for 700 miles this summer from you.....think you can muster that up. Lets get a reading on the clock and check back in October (geesh, 700 miles wounldn't normally be considered "optimistic" but I think he is right )
