Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I can't seem to find it on the sites that I checked on.

PJorgen, I actually saw the recommendation from Loren and the renntech guys to replace the drain plug with a stainless steel one to avoid possible stripping in the future.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Where do you DIY guys get your parts from? I have checked several sites, sunset, suncoast, autohauz, pelican, etc etc, all have different prices for their products.
1. How much should I expect to pay, including shipping, also considering good service & reputation.
2. Which filter should I go with, Bosch, Hengst, Mahle, etc?
3. Has anyone bought the stainless steel drain plug before? I can't seem to find it on the sites that I checked on.
Thanks.
I always get mine from
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...#ht_500wt_1190
these days.
OEM filter, O-ring and crush washer included - buy 4 at a time for my cars, and sometimes split the order with buddies if they need a filter set.
The guy has always delivered, and the price and service have been great.
+2 but buy by bulk (filters) on ebay.
As far as oil....Autozone
I signed up for their promo...spend $20 per purchase 10x and get $20 off on the 11th purchase. So..buy 3 qrts one day, 3 qrts the next, etc..
Thanks Guys! The ebay deal seems like a good deal, and with you guys' recommendation. Unless if I decide to only order one, then I'll go with suncoast.
cdodkin, on the ebay auction description, are these the crush washers?
"Also included are 4 oil drain plug
gaskets
"
PJorgen, I actually saw the recommendation from Loren and the renntech guys to replace the drain plug with a stainless steel one to avoid possible stripping in the future.
yes those are the crush washers.... though I dont see how they crush, maybe they do on a microscoping level.
Just hand tighten the drain plug, dont be tempted to over tighten only cause you can..... I like flat6innovations plug with the magnet better.
Agreed - just snug it up with the supplied 'oil drain plug gasket' in place.
Make sure you oil the new o-ring after you've slipped it onto the filter housing as well.
i would suggest you change the drain plug at the same time. Because they are made of aluminum and 8mm allen the square edges round off very easily. A new drain plug is $5.00, I'd stay away from stainless it would be very easy to strip the crankcase threads.
