Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

0 discussions have direct query context; 0 report a fix in that context. Other evidence may inherit the discussion’s subject.
Leading evidence: 'Replace sway bars' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Replace sway bars' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

im going to attack this this afternoon now after running into dead ends repeatedly trying to find out info.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

looking for some definatives on swapping out the front sway bar on a C2, i might be looking in the wrong places but there doesnt seem to be much in the way of detailed info.
its obvious when looking under the car that theres a retaining plate with three bolts that clamps it in place but that this plate also holds the mount for the front arm.
im fairly experienced when it come to repairs and work on cars but ive looked several times and cant decide if the plate is simply providing a clamp for the bar and an attachement for the arm and therefor the only weight and forces involved are the physical weight of the plate itself or whether theres torsional forces here and unbolting will cause it to pop out or off, perhaps with some force
is it as simple as it seems, just jack up, unbolt three outer bolts and remove bar and reverse? is this is so i can probably just do it with car on ground as weight is taken by coilovers and arm is only stabilising.
as a result im loathe to just start on it with a socket. im sensing the lack of info about means its as straightforward as it seems it could be and im simply over-engineering but if anyone could share their experience i would be much obliged
I had the same fear...but fear not, remove the 3 bolts, the plate and the bar should come out from there. Everything will go back together without issue for you.
Andy
I did mine with the car on jack stands. Don't think it matters as long as BOTH front wheels are either weighted or un-weighted though. (can't just have one corner jacked up at a time.)
that was my thinking too. either both up or both down would be same.
thank you very much for replying. im going to attack this this afternoon now after running into dead ends repeatedly trying to find out info.
beautiful car by the way in red
^^ what he said. I actually just removed the 2 bolts from either end on the "boomerang" and loosened the middle one and just swing it out of the way to R&R the new bar. I forget the torque settings for those bolts, but they are pretty high IIRC.
The boomerang plates are cheap and many people replace, and double up on these plates as they bend (downward under the bushing) easily. I suppose a bent plate would allow for a little extra wiggle of the bushing. I re-used my OEM plates when I changed sway bars. If they look significantly bent i'd say replace them, otherwise don't worry.
