This is not a probability of success.

I changed an H7 bulb in the passenger side headlight unit today, but when I put the unit back in, now NONE of the lights on that side work (except the corner marker).

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

2 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I changed an H7 bulb in the passenger side headlight unit today, but when I put the unit back in, now NONE of the lights on that side work (except the corner marker). It seems that the male electrical plug that's built into the headlamp unit is not properly engaging with the female socket inside the housing. I've pulled the unit out and pushed it back in, locking it, about a dozen times, but still nada. Has anybody encountered this before? Any ideas on what to do? I started to rip the female socket off its mount and just plug it directly into the headlamp unit, but that would be a last resort. Thanks. (FWIW, these are non-Litronic lights, obviously.)

POST 2Original post

I have swapped about 4 differant sets of lights in my car, I was told the plug is easy to damage and/or knock out of place. IIRC there is some sort of a little clip that holds the socket in the car. I suspect yours has failed. I think its item 12 in the PET There might be a way to remove the inner fender well plastic and plug it in from the backside. They come out fairly easy, but the wheel should be off to get the best access. GL and post your finding PS - I did assume you know already to sort of "wiggle" the light into place before even touching the locking wrench... right? you should be able to feel it make the connection prior to locking it into place..
