Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Please bear with me, I'm relatively new to the 996 market/car. Still in the market for a 996 C2 or C4. Found a local '99 C2 with 80K miles, all records, one owner, Tech Art front spoiler and aero package minus the real wing addition, 3 spoke steering wheel, aluminum interior package, CD/radio,
no Nav, 6 spd. Clear and clean title. No accident history. No re-spray. Stock
17" turbo twists with good rubber. Is a 70-80K service needed?
Asking $36K.
Besides PPI any questions/info I need before proceeding to the next level (i.e PPI).
Thanks,
for $36k you should get a '00 . i sold a loaded '00 for $30k even. there are LOTS of used 996s. drive as many as you can so you can surmise what a 'tight' well maintained car feels like vs. a beater. it will tell you things about the car a prepurchase inspection does'nt .
Wow, that seems low. Did you let many people test-drive it? I'm thinking of selling mine soon and I'm curious about the best way to proceed and what to expect.
99 C4, about 54K miles. $39K. See signature for details. I will have the annual maintenance completed before sale. In FL and will be in KY in a month or so. Drive a little, save a lot.
I listed it for $34k. the price was negotiated befpre we met. he bought it "as-is" w/ 93k miles on the clock. fwiw, it drove very well and no expense was spared on maintenance. it took me 7-mos. to sell it. so. california buyers won't bite on high-milage cars, there are too many to choose from.
Prices are a bit higher here in the Midwest where we don't have such a glut of late-model Porsches, but 99s are going for low-to-mid 30s even here, less for high mileage cars.

Paul,
Do you have some pix of your car you could send me? I'm in the market for a 996, and our timing may work out in a few months. You have the wheels I'm looking for.
Regards,
Jon
Seems a little high to me. In December, I bought my 2000 Cab (raises book price) with Tip (raises book price), full leather, 18 in wheels, and most of the other options you mentioned, including the aluminum (love those gauge faces). 32K miles. I flew to Texas to get it and paid a (non-Porsche) dealer $43K.
I try to shop on mileage first and price second. In '04 I bought a 99 996 with a 99 Euro GT3 body kit that was added by the dealer before the car was as originally sold. I bought it with 7500 miles on it - I paid more than the price you mentioned, but the car was basically as new and far less expensive than a new one. No probs with it at all, and I just had the 15k checkup done. Though it has no badges on it, more than one TT guy has asked me how I like my GT3...
There are just too many 996s for sale to consider anything over 40k miles, as far as I am concerned. A little more looking ought to net you a very low mileage car.

Is mileage such a big consideration on the 996? It's not for other 911s, imo. I've noticed that cars with the Nappa leather have worn-looking seats more often than not.

No, mileage is not really a concern, but there are lots of early model 996's for sale, many with low to moderate mileage and in excellent condition. As a result, many avoid the higher mileage cars. I experienced this when selling my 61k mile '98 Boxster. It took me longer to sell as there were a ton of early Boxsters with half the miles on the market, which drove the value of my Boxster down. Same thing is happening with 996's at the moment.
