Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Today I took my wife to test drive this car.
2000 996 in Houston
Pros:
2000 thus E-gas and Alcantara headliner
Colors
Wheels
Leather everywhere
Wife loved it
Cons:
Leather dash sag just below the defrost vents
Paint Tape line
Tires old
Is the price ok? Any idea about repairing the sag on the dash? Just curious.
the ad says "3.6" it's a 3.4. the previous owner painted the calipers or...the litronics and sport classic wheels are cool but the black 4-spoke steering wheel looks weird. i've not seen many '00s thet were full-leather w/o a 3-spoke in matching color. other than those nits, i think its a great buy ~$35k, provived the title is traceable w/o damage history
The interior instigated investigation. I think it looks great. The car drove really solid. If I can get it for $30k it's mine.
I'm thinking about waiting to see how the auction runs it's course before I make an official offer. It's going to be my daily driver so I prefer an 'easier' color.
I think that's a good deal. Personally, I don't like the interior colour and the contrasting steering wheel.
When I sell my 2000, I will be asking a bit more, and I have 80,000 miles on mine. (I guess I won't be selling it right?)
Overall it looks like a nice car. A couple of things, the steering wheel looks like it has been replaced, check the carfax make sure it has not been wrecked with an air bag deploy. Personally I like the looks of the 4 spoke wheel myself, in fact there was an all leaher 4 spoke option as well that year. The wheels have a bit of curb rash, again not a big deal. Black is a sweet color on any 911.
If it checks out go forit!
I've been watching that dealer for years on ebay. Nice to know someone is close. I once considered a bmw there, and the sales guys did a "walk around" the car while I was on the phone. He advised me about 2 dents I couldn't see in the pix, so they sound pretty honest.
Where did you see the paintwork?
Regards,
Don't see how that car will go for less than $37,000, let alone $30k..... bid is already at 35,000. Car looks very nice, I have seen alot of the "full leather" (non black) packages with a black 4-spoke wheel.... I don't think it means anything, though I wonder why Porsche would do that....
Personally, the interior color would be my first choice, I am sick of black interior...

I sure hope it doesn'tgo for 30k. A 2000 boxster S would bring more. heck, a really sharp 87-89 low mileage 911 wide body will bring more than 30k. I really don't understand some of the low prices on 996s. They are great cars. I'll just keep mine until it's an antique before selling it for a ridiculously low price. I can't think of another car I would rather take off on a trip in than a 996. 993s may look better, but I would much rather drive a 996 cross country.
I am confused. How can anyone get one like that for $30k? Is that what the car is worth in the wholesale market?
I would really love to get one like that for $30k.
If they're asking 35-38, you can bet they got it for less than 30k. Yes, the interior is an undesirable color, the 4 spoke wheel looks good, but the 3 spoke is more desired. The car itself is fairly spartan as far as options go so I think 30 is a fair offer, or at least a starting point.
If you decide that this car is right for you make sure you get a PPI done first by a competent shop...BTW the price seems low for a 2000. I could be wrong, however.

the sept Excellence issue came today. I feel some better after reading Bruce's thoughts, but it's still a shame we are losing so much in depreciation. When i feel like I just have to trade, I'll get the aerokit. When it needs a rebuild, a supercharger perhaps. That should take me into my 60s. I may need a Cayenne by then
_The car has had Five owners, and was bought at auction by these folks
_The interior is a special order Natural Brown...about a $4,000 option...I May be Wrong....but I thought it covered the steering wheel in a 3 spoke configuration
-Price is about right
-Remember the car is now five years old and out of warranty
When I suggested 30k offer, the bidding wasn't that high. Besides alot of the deals fall through on ebay, many of these sellers will jump at a in hand cash offer, versus a 'bid' placed by a 16 yr old in his underwear at 3am.
I would still offer 30k, esp with that history, 5 owners, what's up with that?
