Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I believe Porsche has replaced engines under warranty for multiple RMS failures if the crankshaft is out of spec.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thank God for warranties. Even got a coolant flush out of the deal.

POST 2Original post

Nice, it's not a hard DIY but fairly annoying!

POST 3Original post

Just curious...how much would an RMS replacement be today? Still around $800-900.00?

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I didn't see the bill for the RMS replacement but the expansion tank w/ rad flush was $364. I would guess around 1.2K for RMS.

POST 6Original post

This may be a dumb question, but does and RMS replacement come with a warranty and if an engine out of warranty failed due to the failure of a recently installed RMS would there be a case for the factory paying for a new engine?

POST 7Original post

Porsche repairs carry a two year unlimited mile warranty unless you are still under factory warranty. If still under factory warranty, the repair is warranted for the remainder of the factory warranty. As for the engine failure, a leaky RMS will not cause an engine to fail. One of the possible conditions that causes the RMS to leak, an out of spec crankshaft, could possibly cause an engine failure I suppose.... I believe Porsche has replaced engines under warranty for multiple RMS failures if the crankshaft is out of spec. I don't know if Porsche is currently replacing out of warranty engines. You might do a search on engine replacements and find several threads......
