Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Unfortunately in my opinion this 911 has been poorly maintained the last couple of years, the carfax shows no history of any major work being done other than the long block was replaced 2 years ago.
Leading evidence: 'Replace 2 years ago' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Check heat exchanger' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

Ive tested the AOS using the technique on this forum and it checked out, but I havent done anything to check the heat exchanger.

Since you have to wait and see which bearing is in there you can also wait to inspect clutch flywheel rms.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Getting closer to doing my IMS/RMS replacement, on 2001 996 C2 87k. The gearbox seems to shift smooth through all gears, but its my first pcar, so i have nothing to compare to. My question is what other maintenance items should i do while i have the gearbox dropped? Don't mind spending extra $$ and time, on the project, but at the same time I believe its senseless to just replace parts that appear to operating as they should, unless the cost is insignificant. But I want to get the option of all the seasoned pcar owners on here as I usually do. Thanks in advance
Here is a potential laundry list of additional parts to consider w/ IMSB/RMS
1. clutch & flywheel
2. trans mount
3. trans fluid
4. oil cooler
5. UAOS
6. engine mounts
I dont know if the clutch has ever been done, im guessing not. Unfortunately in my opinion this 911 has been poorly maintained the last couple of years, the carfax shows no history of any major work being done other than the long block was replaced 2 years ago. I was able to track the shop down that did the work and unfortunately they had no detailed records available.
Ive tested the AOS using the technique on this forum and it checked out, but I havent done anything to check the heat exchanger. UAOS is on my list of items i want to change, but I dont know if I can afford to do it at the same time
The engine/transmission mounts are on my list to do at the same time. The fluid would be easy enough. But I have not thought about the oil cooler. If I was to replace the clutch and flywheel, what replacement should I be looking for stock or should I upgrade it?
Forgot to answer your question on the clutch and flywheel. I would go oem for both. Some guys will do a Sachs clutch for street driving. But I would stick with the oem dual mass flywheel. I run a Spec clutch and oem dmf.
My indy put on a stage 1 well over 15 years old. Its held up well with alot of track days as well as street driving. I don't know anything about the Luk fly wheels. They insisted I should use the oem flywheel. This winter I am going to have them drop the trans and go thru everything IMSB/clutch and flywheel related and see what they suggest.
the price difference between Porsche and LUK may allow me to replace both components while the gear box is dropped, otherwise it will have to wait. Im doing the work myself so not a big deal for me to have to go back later and do the clutch/fly wheel
