Also set aside $200 for colored Porsche wheel caps -- that beautiful car needs them
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Finally ready to get my first 911. Wondering what you experts think of this deal:
http://phoenix.craigslist.org/evl/ctd/2553721460.html
Test drove well, seems like the price is in the right range. Any concerns I should be looking for?
Looks like a nice car but while I'm far more familiar with Cab pricing, that price seems to be kind of high for a C2 Coupe...even a C4 Coupe. That's close to if not right in line with C4S pricing. Actually, wasn't someone on the forum trying to sell a C4S coupe for around that price (if not less)?
That said, if you like the car and the price is good to you then get a PPI done and if it checks out, buy it, smile, drive off with the car you want and never look back!

Sounds nice but pricey but is quite a few good options.....Bose, PSE, Heated Seats. But if it makes your chest pump the price is relative. Do they have any maintenance history?
I attached the codes the car has from this link to a VIN decoder.

I agree with Pete -- a bit high, but there are so many condition variables its hard to say without looking at it..... but ultimately what's $2-3K ether way if it floats your boat. I agree you should really see if they have a good service history. Good proxy for how the car was loved/pampered (in the absence of other information) is by the frequency of oil changes. Porsche says 15K -- I think most folks here do it much more frequently (and no I'm not trying to start another oil thread, please!!!).
Also set aside $200 for colored Porsche wheel caps -- that beautiful car needs them
Agree that's too high although prices have surged. I paid $35 for my 2002 CPO targa 2 years ago and it had 13k mikes on it then with Bose, xexons, heated sport seats, rockers, painted center console, carbon shifter and hand brake, PSM...I think that's it.
Good luck on your decision. It looks very nice though.
$35K is a bit steep. Edmunds pricing for a clean car of this vintage, equipment and mileage is more like $30K.
I noticed a couple of things in the photos (such as they were): both rear wheels appear to have curb rash, inside of the frunk shows quite a few scuffs. The seller has not made much effort to clean the car up to make it as presentable as possible.
If you continue to be interested in the car, have it inspected by an independent Porsche specialist prior to purchase. If it comes back clean from the PPI, think about offering something like $32.5 out the door and see what happens.
Good luck.
Love the color combo and hope to do the same in the future with my next Porsche purchase. Look at the Porsche carefully, heed the advice mentioned before and get the best dollar deal you can after an acceptable and complete inspection by a knowledgeable Porsche mechanic. GL and let us know.
Car is nicely optioned - based on the vin it also has the M030 sport suspension, heated seats, and PSM. Original MSRP with the options would have been over $80k. BUT - the vehicle history looks shaky to me with the title transfers in short time and miles. Started out in Washington - lack of service history would also be a big issue in my mind.
Hate to say it because I own an 04 much like it - but even if it checked out to be stellar I'd want it at closer to $30k - $32K. Be careful - remember that price to buy does not equal cost to own. If this car has not been well maintained you might be getting more than you bargained for.
Good for you, man! I don't think you want a perfect one. What fun is that? Better to have at least a few little things to hyper-focus on over the next few weeks. You'll have a ball with that car.
Congratulations! I am glad you are the buyer, I noticed the next day that it was sold and I hoped we didn't steer you away from the deal.
The PSE sounds terrific doesn't it? Mine is default set to on and I very rarely ever hit the switch to quiet them down, only once in a while to keep them working.
Ya I love the exhaust sound. Especially after 3500 rpms of so.... Why would you ever turn it off??
The default is always on right? And the button turns it off?
Yes - mine is on by default - when off the switch has an indicator light that turns on. I believe on 997's it is the opposite, default is off and you must turn it on with the button. On conference calls when people are complaining I turn them off, less complaints but still end up muting the phone on and off... it's worth it.
Also, I think around 35 or 40mph they turn off to satisfy European noise regulations. You will notice it especially driving with the windows open.
Tires in the pics look new, what brand are they?
