Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

0 original-poster resolution reports. Counts can overlap; they are not unique people or a success rate.
0 discussions have direct query context; 0 report a fix in that context. Other evidence may inherit the discussion’s subject.
Suggestion
Just to be thorough: Porsche would prefer though that when topping up the same oil that was used for the fill be used.
Leading evidence: 'Fill be' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Fill be' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. Suggestion
Sure the engine quieted down some (at engine start and hot idle) after the oil change but that's normal.

Suggestion
I'll see how the engine sounds after 5K miles on this 5w-50 oil and see if the oil consumption rate changes but even with this last fill of 0w-40 oil the oil consumption didn't jump up (or fall down) from what it has been now for a long time.

Porsche states in its approved oils document approved oils are miscible, the oils can be mixed with no need to flush the engine before changing from one approved oil to another approved oil.

I've noticed this even when replacing old oil with fresh oil.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hi guys,
My porky is going in for service tmr. Decided to go for Elf's 5w50 Excellium Oil. Currently using motul 300v 5w40.
My question is, should i remove the sump pan and have the "insides" cleaned?
Cheers
There's seldom a need to have the oil sump pan removed for any reason. While there may be some 'trash' on the bottom of the sump it is not going anywhere and it is not doing any harm.

Anyhow, change the oil/filter -- be sure not to overfill the engine with oil -- adn all will be fine.
BTW, I just switched my 02 Boxster from Mobil 1 0w-40 to Mobil 1 5w-50 oil and so far I can't tell the difference. Sure the engine quieted down some (at engine start and hot idle) after the oil change but that's normal. I've noticed this even when replacing old oil with fresh oil.

Sincerely,
Macster.
