Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

33 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I finally got around to having her go in for the nose job. While she was in there, I also got her to tone up her sides a bit too. Here are quick before and after pics. I will take better pics of her to post up soon I am due for a proper newbie intro thread here.

POST 7 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Yep, mine is an aftermarket front bumper. The factory turbo bumpers will fit on '02 and later 996s.

POST 13Original post

Nice job on the bumper. Could use some spacers....

POST 14Original post

Looks great! I'll bet Ed is wondering where the pumpkins are...

POST 17Original post

Nice. It looks likeit would improve forcing air into the radiators. All I'd wonder about is the extra drag at speed not having the tubo to push at top end.

POST 19Original post

Well done Are those wheels look like BBS LMs? Yeah, agree - some spacers will make it meaner

Thanks for the compliments. I really wanted the oem MKI areo bumper and side skirts but they were just too expensive. He is new guy I found. He is currently working out of his garage. Really cool guy and does good work for a lot less than the shops. Yes, that is on my list of to buy. I am not sure of what sizes to get yet. BTW, my car appears to be lower than other stock 996. I am pretty sure I have stock suspension too? I am scared if I get spacers it will rub? haha... pumpkins were the first to go. Precision Porsche. Pretty good for after market. A couple imperfections my body guy fixed. One is still there though and it is bothering me. Those are genuine BBS LMs. 19x8.5 fronts and 19x10 rears.

POST 21Original post

Very nice upgrade, your are giving me some ideas for my 2001

POST 22Original post

Nice job, turbo bumper looks the best. I did the same this summer.

POST 23Original post

Very nice! If I may ask, what did the bumper cost?

I wish I could of installed that OEM bumper with the C4S lip. It was $1250 for the bumper and side skirts. Shipping was another $175.

POST 26Original post

Looking to get this done on my c4 too! Those pictures confirmed my dilema ..

POST 27 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

...for you MKII 996 folks. For us '99 to '01 folks, our options are either to go with an aftermarket bumper like mine... or change out the whole front (fenders, headlights, trays, wires, bumper). I went with Precision Porche's bumper since it is polyurethane. There are other aftermarket ones made out of fiberglass as well.

POST 28Original post

Quotes source post: 8269600

I contemplated the whole front upgrade, but with the hassle and $$$ spent better sell and upgrade, no?

POST 29 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source post: 8269653

Actually, it is probably cheaper or the same cost to change out the front end then going with the aftermarket bumper. There are several folks on here (or other forums) that have done it. In hindsight I would've gone this route too if I had known better. I bought the aftermarket bumper before I even got the car home!

POST 30Original post

Looks like a great result, nice job! front end upgrade huh... How's the profile look? Back end doesn't need any attention in your opinion?

POST 31Original post

Nice bummer and parking tag, are you on the Eastside?

POST 32 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source post: 8276387

Yep, I live and work on the eastside.

POST 33Original post

It's amazing what a difference a front bumper can make!
