Smooth and you don't feel any bumps till you are going around 200+mph since most gradient changes feel like a bump at those speeds.

I did have change my route to work because of the friggin' ruts in back country roads from our ice storm last week.

You will even get little old 80 year old ladies that will give you a run for your money at speed while they are just on a simple trip to see their grandchildren.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

If you lived in Germany would you drive your Porsche in the winter?
Germnay doesn't use salt on their roads. They use some other chemical that doesn't harm the enviroment or cars.
Then there is the autobahn which is a very nice hwy. Smooth and you don't feel any bumps till you are going around 200+mph since most gradient changes feel like a bump at those speeds. The autobahn also has automatic orange rotating warning beaacons that turn on when there are ice conditions on the road surface. You will even get little old 80 year old ladies that will give you a run for your money at speed while they are just on a simple trip to see their grandchildren. Many americans get their door blown off by granny's over there in their German versions of Mercedes and Audi.
Life is cruel for us americans on our roads. But would you enjoy your Porsche in winter on their roads? I know I would.
I used to drive my Porsche 911S daily on the roads of Germany--year around. Years ago they did, in fact, use something that was essentially salt. It was pink.
If I lived in Germany, I would use my Porsche every day - even in winter.
I live in the USA, and use my Boxster every day - even during the winter months. If I get a clear winter day with dry roads, the 911 gets taken out of the garage for exercise.
I drive my Porsche every day here in the US! Fortunately, they don't really use salt on the roads here in Colorado. It was -20 F when I left for work this morning, with lots of snow on the ground. The C4S is a great winter car!
Since I drive it in the winter right now--yes, even with salt--I'm pretty sure I'd drive it in the winter in Germany, too. Wash it once in a while and the car will be just fine. I've got an '03 Infiniti with 120k miles on it that has gone through everything and sits outside every night and has no rust underneath.
Modern cars are not these fragile little eggs that self-destruct at the first sign of a little cold, snow, or salt. I still laugh when I see 2-year-old cars advertised as being a "rust-free Southern car". Dude, all 2-year-old cars are rust-free these days.
Would I drive year round in Germany? Is this a trick question? Hell yes I would. 14 here in Indy and the DD is doing just fine. I did have change my route to work because of the friggin' ruts in back country roads from our ice storm last week.
Multiply KPH times 6. Then like 120 it equals 72 which is close for MPH. Keep in mind 60mph is always 100kph and you'll always be able to do a quick mental interpulation.
Drove my 77 911S for almost a year in Northern Germany. The rudimentary heating and defrosting made it an adventure. No garage either. Another big problem was keeping the winshield and headlights clear on the autobahn without heated washers or nozzles. We tend to think of those options as unnecesary, but they really come in handy in longer winter drives. For practicality I got a Beater VW GTI for the next winter.
I drive that part of I-80 on a weekly basis. Probably the most dangerous driving I do, really--it's one of the heaviest travelled stretches of road you'll find and for some reason it gets insanely slick in some areas and many people don't realize it. I've been driving 30 mph on it on sheer ice and gotten passed by people going 70 that haven't figured out it's slick yet. It's not uncommon to see 50-60 vehicles go off in a ten mile stretch.
