Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

so, check valve and diverter valve replaced, cai vacuum system rebuilt, engine air filter replaced, drive belt replaced(modified) and it is back on the road.
Leading evidence: 'Replace (modified) and it is back' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Check vacuum lines and found' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.
Source reports, not a diagnosis or a success probability. Counts refer to discussions and can overlap.

obviously ill pay attention to and clean all the electrical plug connections too.

I have seen a few post on a diagram of the vacuum lines using a 3 way splitter , my car is a '996 manual 1999 m96/01 and came with 4 port multi connector, I replaced my AOS and for some reason the vacuum lines got all mixed up , Is there any picture using the 4 port connector ?

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

'99 carrera 2 cab manual, with cable throttle. car ran fine, no issues other than a persistent CEL for p0140. decided to go in and replace the diverter valve and check down as per this guide i found here (thanks, btw) http://p-car.com/996/diy/sai/mainpage.html
now, when i got to the valves after removing the alternator, i decided to check the vacuum lines and found that i had a 4-way that was toast. i replaced the lines i could see, but here's where im lost. i only found a 4 way (+ shaped) junction. no y shaped one anywhere. and when i recreated the 4 way i only had 3 leads. i assume the one im missing needs to go to the "canister" which i really have no location for. i capped the 4th lead for now.
when i attempt to start the car, its clearly off. it seems like it has lost the throttle position. wont stay running, though i only tried a couple times. very rough. when i go and disassemble in the am, where should i be looking to correct the vacuum issue? the car ran fine with all the lines melted and clogged. obviously ill pay attention to and clean all the electrical plug connections too. but some routing of the lines must be wrong. help!? this is the diagram i have, which shows a y-junction off the change-over valve. that was not present in mine. http://www.autoatlanta.com/porsche-parts/hardparts.php?dir=996-99-05§ion=108-05
The canister sits kind of behind the alternator but is lower. Its underneath the left intake manifold. This diagram probably isnt the right one for you because you have a four way But it will show you what it looks like. I had to use a extendable mirror to actually see what I was doing.
Is your motor original to your car? Its my understanding that the 4-way tee is for a Tiptronic car and the manuals have a 3-way (Y). The motor in mine isnt original but the car is a factory 6-speed and it had a 4-way tee when we went in to do some vacuum repair recently. We swapped that out with the proper 3-way.
the only option codes on this example are for the turbo-look wheels, windscreen, radio, and a cd storage thing in the dash. end of list. that said any opinions or guesses as to the vacuum routing are welcome. and given the variance on these 3.4s, probably valid
i was able to locate the canister and reach it to fit a new hose. now i have it like so: 1 lead to the front of the car from the changeover valve #1. then the lttle jumper from the check valve to changeover #2. then one lead from each changeover to my 4-way. one from the 4-way to the can, and one from the left side of the intake tube thru a one-way back to close the system at the 4-way. will have to wait a lil bit to fire it up
got it all back together, started good. idled ok. searched a bit but sounded fine. i gave it a bit of gas, and it surged to 3900, and held there, then the serpentine belt ate itself and i shut it off. back to the parts counter i go...
the little half-bolt for the throttle body locator bracket that is connected by rubber seal to the block came loose and got pinned in the pulley track. but i cannot get my tensioner to travel far enough to get the proper belt on. i'm weighing trying to pry or lever it somehow(have tried a bit and its tough even with two men,) going to a slightly longer belt, and i am really trying to avoid replacing the tensioner pulley unless it can be done easily and in very little time. i need this car running today.
it seems apparent this one is destined to have the idler pulleys replaced. but not today. another option is to find a leverage point and exert huge torque onto another pulley, seemed like an expensive fix to a cheap problem. having NEARLY all the travel and tension on the swing arm, i went to a belt with 12mm more length. problem solved for today at least. so, check valve and diverter valve replaced, cai vacuum system rebuilt, engine air filter replaced, drive belt replaced(modified) and it is back on the road.
also, i checked around the throttle cable and the cable was not seated in the flange on the back side, a simple flick of the fingernail and it stopped sticking open. all systems go
its actually so much greater than before, i cant say how much of that is the k&n vs the actual repair. but i found the revs to gain so much more quickly i had to relearn all the launch points from scratch. its like an entirely different machine now. and i happily handed it off to my partner for a 1500 mile trek back to the family garage for awhile. next up, wet sand and clear coat correction.

BTW, if you pull it down to 74 it should get 28 mpg. That's what I got a recent interstate trip. Only 320 miles or so though. Should prove the same for you. This was before I had the 90k service done. Can't tell you if there is any improvement because I got a CEL a couple days later and now I can actually watch the gauge drop in town. That's an aside from this conversation. No replies to me post please.
