Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Has anyone run across the location of VS 78? Its shown in the Bentley Manual on page EDW-96 at grid at C11. Its a splice point with 10 wires that are Red/Black. I am troubleshooting a problem that blows fuse C3 upon key on or key fob central locking activation. I've narrowed it down to the Red/Black wire in position B4 of the immobilizer unit. With the wire disconnected, the alarm system functions. The rest of the wires at the splice point are for lights and a couple of switches for the mirror defogger and memory seat. I've removed the light bulbs, and the fuse still blows. Must be a hard short somewhere. TIA Lon

POST 2Original post

I cant look at mybentley to check right now but are u sure its a splice or a bridge? The bridge points are on the relay center at the bottom. I might be able pull out my old harness and check for you tonight.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

One of the wires goes to BS-7 which is a bridge point. From the immobilizer connector, it looks like it goes forward in the drivers door sill. TIA for any light you can shed later.

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Are the bridge points at the relay panel a removable device so the bridge can be removed?

POST 5Original post

Yes, except they come out the back so you need to remove the relay panel to get them out. They you can remove the locking piece and extract the wires.

POST 6 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks! That will eliminate 2 probable causes. I've eliminated the Immobilizer from being the cause. I wired an external fuse to the Red/Black wire removed from the connector and fed it 12 volts, popped right away.

POST 7Original post

Hi, Im having trouble with fuse B1 blowing. One of the things that stops working is the targa switches. Does anyone have a schematic of the targa controls? Is there a separate control box somewhere?
