Read evidence and context
Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

0 original-poster resolution reports. Counts can overlap; they are not unique people or a success rate.
0 discussions have direct query context; 0 report a fix in that context. Other evidence may inherit the discussion’s subject.
Suggestion
im surprised no one has recommended a console delete
Leading evidence: 'Recommend console delete' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Recommend console delete' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.
Source reports, not a diagnosis or a success probability. Counts refer to discussions and can overlap.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Maybe I am soft but I find that my right leg rubs against the side console when I am driving and it drives me crazy. If you have full leather is that part covered in leather? If so, do you think it would look odd if I just changed out those panels?
That's pretty funny.
No I am not unusually tall and don't beleive the seat is too close. In my BMW there is actually padding attached to the side of the console.
I have full leather and those side panels are leather covered. I have to clean them more often than the other becasue of all the oils, dirt, etc., my leg can rub onto it. No biggie since I am really the only person that would see that panel. I considered changing out the panels as you asked but I changed my mind b/c I didn'ty think I could get them to match the rest of the leather in the car that has probably not held its "day 1" color.
I don't know if you've tried but you can easily pull the panels off to clean them. You can also pull it off and put a softer material over the panel, maybe a little padding that would hang down over the panel and can be removed if needed.
Rob
you can also do a console delete and solve the rubbing problem. Carnewal sells a leather cover for the forward part of the shifter as well.
BTW.. my legs also rub agaist the center console (this was an 01' boxster at the time) & I am not tall by any means.
not a problem.
here is the link to the parts - the Mk1 GT-3 were delivered w/o the center console to save weight

85.00 euro's pretty cheap
This looks like a great idea. I'm 6'2 with the seat right back i still find it a little uncomfortable sometimes.
How easy is it to do and would it be easy to put back if you didn't like it?
Thanks
Just realised that my heated seat switches are in that console panel, does anybody know how difficult it would be to move those switches up to the main panel above with all the others? Thanks
you can move the switches to the center console area as well or the upper center console area. there should be enough length on the cables for either (somebody correct me if i am wrong here)
30-45 minute install nominally
Thanks for the replies chaps.
Riad, thanks for spotting the how-to, here's the post incase anybody looks on in the future.
