Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

38 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

May 5 Update: My car was observed DRIVEN out from the garage around 3.30am Monday morning, May 3rd. It was driven out with the lights off. POST 2Original post

Wow... that's terrible! Sorry to hear about it. I hope you recover it unharmed.

POST 4Original post

let's hope the internet community will help nail the bastard !

POST 5Original post

yeah..... people suck! +1 for nailing those bastards!

POST 7Original post

With the explosion of traffic cams you'ld think the car could be traced to an area at least before it was parked away. Good luck recovering it and dealing with the insurance company.

POST 8Original post

Holy crap, Batman! How in the world does someone steal a P-car? Mine is so secure that even I can't get into it w/ a key sometimes (had a broken lock mechanism). Seriously- how did they start the car or turn the steering wheel w/o a key? Where was it parked? Did they simply drag it onto a flatbed and drive away w/ it? Very sorry, but that's what insurance is for I guess....what a bummer! I hope Dennis will agree w/ me that having your car stolen is even worse than a dent-and-run.

POST 10Original post

Unfortunately the car was probably exported over seas.....its a big problem you dont hear about much....VINs can be altered and sold on the black market. A big buyer is russia. Hopefully for you its still stateside and is recovered in safe condition.

POST 11Original post

They may return it when they find its not an actual GT... Thats gunna be like getting a woman home and she whips out a ***** bigger than yours. Good luck Finding the car.

POST 12Original post

sorry to hear about that, good luck getting it back ... may the internet forces help you!

POST 13Original post

I do hope its legit and not an ins fraud due to IMS or other catistrophic failure. All his posts are abotu his stolen car. Why isnt the ins company paying for the car? Either way, I do hope justice is served.

POST 14Original post

Sorry to hear. Hope you find it soon. Have faith. There are instances of BMWs spotted/recovered by forum members. Even if the insurance pays, there is no way it will cover the actual value of the car with the mods, maintenance, etc. FM

At least they may just dump it on the street when they see it's relative to a showroom car a total track car!

POST 16 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source post: 7540743

I hope they ran a light with it, I'll get a letter with a link to photos of their faces and film clip. But if they were good enough to take it from a garage in a really visible area with cross-streeets and get away with it, I don't have too much hope. Thanks all for helping out keep eyes open for parts!!

POST 17 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I can never be re-paid for the 250 hours I spent to rebuild it. It was my heart and soul into it, and I just turned it into a racewinning car (Redline Time Attack). My season is screwed and I lost a car I've been working on soo much and there's no way I can afford a car like it for what little insurance money may come from it. I want the car back, period. For me, there's no car like it and I knew every nut and bolt.

POST 18Original post

That is just so wrong on so many levels. What will your insurance company do if anything to help cover your costs into the Porsche?

POST 20Original post

iinteresting thought about the cameras - somewhere there IS a video of your car ...... but how can you find it? maybe go to businesses nearby and see if they would be willing to help??

POST 21Original post

I believe the police can obtain that camera footage (they do all the time here in NY), the question is whether or not they'll allocate the resources to obtain the footage and review it over a stolen car. Thy've done it for a stolen ATM machine in NYC, so it's worth a shot!

Right, they barely even want to write a report on anything these days. That sucks, I recall there were two Porsches stolen from Newport Beach on the same night last fall. It's like the original Gone in 60 seconds or something. I wonder if it's still on the streets or garage somewhere, or already in a container at the docks in Long Beach... Good luck, keep us posted.....

POST 23Original post

I still feel for ya man but probably cars in the same flow of traffic got tickets while stolen cars going the speed limit just cruise by. Lt's hope they get the car back. Some guys use 24hr video or video set off by movement to monitor their stuff. Might be a worth while investment. A guy on the other side of the island got tired of his news paper disappearing from his mail box and got video of the guy while he was at work. Nice video frame grab of the guy in the paper the next day.

POST 24Original post

Where was it stolen from? home, garage, trailer?

POST 25Original post

Quotes source post: 7543033

Good luck and I do hope you find her. Thanks for taking my response with a little humor... But with all the crap that goes on anymore how can the thought not pass through ones mind? Best of luck. Keep up posted.

POST 26Original post

Damn. I be looking but that good looking car is going to be packaged in parts and sold somewhere else. I hate people a lot and this is why.

POST 27Original post

I realize the horse has left the barn, but http://www.ravelco.com/ I had that installed in an F250. In Houston. That's like trying to secure a cold beer at a NASCAR race. So far so good (knock wood), but I have had two door locks ruined when thieves tried their luck...

POST 28Original post

Very sad sorry. Hope everything works out for the best.

POST 29 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Update: My car was observed DRIVEN out from the garage around 3.30am Monday morning, May 3rd. It was driven out with the lights off. Pls still keep eyes open for parts, or the car, as the police are gathering more information. (I am solely focusing on finding the car and rather not think about some long ol insurance process at this point - I have a race at Cali Speedway end of May and I want the car back asap before it's stripped or totally ruined or wrecked) Thanks soo much everyone for keeping eyes open!!

POST 30Original post

I have a question. feel free to answer via PM if needed, but was the immobilizer disabled on the car? Was there a kill switch installed?

POST 31 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source post: 7543081

Not much at all.

POST 32 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source post: 7546677

The car had OEM alarm system and immobilizer.

POST 33 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Pls keep looking, the police are getting closer and are greatly helped if we keep forcing the thieves to sit tight on the parts from the car (if we = the community block the thieves from trying to sell anything). Thanks soo much for your support!!

POST 34 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hey all, it seems the swine who stole my car may have started to part out, either just the mods or also rest of the car. More than likely if they started stripping the car will be totally stripped so look also for interior etc. Some parts have turned up that fit what I had all too well. Keep eyes open! GMG cage KW coilovers w blue swift springs Rotec seats, alcantara/leather with silver stichting Schroth belts Eibach Racing swaybars Custom exhaust (Afterhours with small cans and race cats) GT2 intercoolers (have sharipe text on them saying a 996 part number) GT2 wheels w or w/out Hankook rubber. A whole car with fishy story, or OE parts with fishy story. Black interior with silver accents/center console. Bose subwoofer. PCM1 headunit.

POST 35 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Just as a fill in to all questions. PD knows the car was picked up by a team using an ECU, immo-unit and alarm-unit of their own and there is no question re the source of the information. Unfortunately those guys then moved the car on somewhere else.

POST 36Original post

My bet would be to look somewhere in Eastern Europe...

POST 37Original post

We got the guy that backed into my 993 from the footage from a neighbor's camera on his garage. It took a while to trace him down, but they got him in the end. I know that in this case, the theft was a last year, but keep in mind that most video files get erased fairly regularly. You have to act very fast or the info is gone...

POST 38Original post

sorry to hear will keep eyes wide open in my end of town
