I'm going to change my tranny oil and I need to know if I need to get new washers if there are any on the 996. Some describe the 996 as having "plugs," and I'm wondering if these screw into the case without washers. If I need them does anyone know what size they are? Autohaus has a large selection of washers and I"m about to order some other stuff also. Nobody else sells them that I can see. Thanks

hmmm.. good question. IIRC its the same as the oil drain plug... not sure if I changed mine or if it was so simple it just didnt stick in my head - 6 speed or tip? tip washer is 986.397.014.00 I think

I can't find the drain plug or the washer for it on the PET, so it must not have one. I did find the fill plug washer it is 900-123-118-30. Rick 99 996C4 87 944S

FWIW that plug was a MOTHER to get off... I think I even began to doubt if it was a regular thread and thought, maybe it was left handed... I mean TIGHT!!

I worked on a 01 C2, no washer. And the drain plug is not magnetic. I checked with Sunset and there is no magnetic plug available for this model. If you want magnetic plug, believed LN engineering has one. http://www.lnengineering.com/store/c...ants-c-22.html
