Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Suggestion

Best way is to access the hydraulics first, to disconnect ( carefull with potentiometer on driver side attached to hydraulic), when hydraulics no longer attached, lift by hand slowly the top till it gets closed to windshield.

Suggestion

yes, if you disconnect the hydraulics from the rod connected to the convertible top side,( you can leave the frame side connected then you dont have to deal with the potentiometer ) you can lift the top by hand to eventually reach the pump.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

6 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

So the hard top has been on forever and apparently the fluid is very low. I've tried disengaging the hydraulic motor from behind the passenger seat. I can get the clam shell to open but it doesn't feel like the stop wants to move up I've seen plenty of videos and threads on what to do when it's close and can't open but I can't figure out the safest way to go from open to close or open to service mode so I can refill the fluid

POST 6Original post

The hydraulics is secured to the frame. The moving part ( cylinder) is what makes the top go up or down. When the moving cylinder is in bottom position, top is down, when cylinder slides up, the top starts moving toward the windshield. On that moving cylinder, there is some kind of big black piece of metal ( looks triangular on your picture) ( mine looks like a rod) attached that is used to push or pull the convertible up or down. You need to unlatch that piece of metal off the cylinder so the top is free, and you can lift it by hand. Hope that makes sense.
