Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

4 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

tow truck. It's a '99 cab with 65k miles and it's in great shape. It especially looks good on a flat bed truck. Twice before it has not started after being parked at a restaurant but both times it restarted after about an hour. It has been tough to diagnose because both times it ran well after restarting. This time I removed the cap covering a valve in the fuel line on the right side of the motor and pressed the valve stem to find no fuel pressure. I'm guessing it needs a fuel pump or relay or??? Thanks for opinions, Bob

I have had intermittent hot start issues. Research leads me to think its a fuel check valve in the tank after the pump. Once I did jump the pump and the issue persisted. My theory is that as the check valve bleeds pressure the fuel boils and I get a vapor lock and the fuel pump will never condense it back to liquid, it would need to fully cool. It is more prevalent with less fuel in the tank, I think. You can clear it by giving some throttle while cranking. man in a garage on YouTube has a great video on YT with all the possible hot start causes, culminated in a check valve in his case.
