As well, the internal design of the mufflers has changed and I believe that this was done when Porsche changed the internal designs on all 2002 (euro, late 2001) cars for the 3.6 engine (to give it more of that "old-school Porsche" sound).
Leading evidence: 'Replace internal designs' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Being in Greece, you must have access to 1999 GT3s and I don't think that those cars used different tips either.

this in my mind might act as a bigger voice trumpet, and this is why i think it might change the level of noise, or even the sound tune-hue.

I have heard that changing the normal exhaust tips with the GT3 style, will improve slightly the sound of the PSE I have on car.

I understand that funneling the sound through an increasing diameter pipe can change things but the distance is so short and the actual exhaust pipe is so close to the edge of the tip that it probably won't make any difference at all.
These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

hi all,
I have heard that changing the normal exhaust tips with the GT3 style, will improve slightly the sound of the PSE I have on car. This is because theoretically the GT3 exhaust tips will act as a bigger speak trumpet. Anyone have any personal experience or thought?
I'm sorry, I was just trying to have some fun at your expense. I didn't realize that the GT3 tips are different than a standard Carrera. That said, your car is a 2001 which has the same rear bumper as all 1999 through 2001 models. The current GT3 has the same rear bumper as all 2002 and up Carreras (not C4S or Turbos) and I've been told that the newer tips do not fit the older bumpers or vice versa. Being in Greece, you must have access to 1999 GT3s and I don't think that those cars used different tips either. Sorry if I'm not very helpful with this.
Doubtful, the distance from the mufflers to the tips are so short that any size change will not make a difference in sound. Also the pipes are straight throiugh with no resonators so you could actually put no tailpipe and get the same sound. Tips are purely for looks.
GT3 tips are different than a standard carrera.bumper is the same 99-01 and my car is 01 with carrera tips. you are correrct again saying that the current GT3 has the same rear bumper as all 2002 and up Carreras, as trhe pre 01 had the same with pre 01 carreras.
once again you are correct saying that the newer tips do not fit the older bumpers or vice versa. adding to that exhaust tips from turbo/4S need the proper turbo=4S rear bumper.
but my point is different to all the correct above info.
i have the carrera exhaust tips, 99-01. i want to upgrade to 99-01 GT3 wich are bigger not internally, as a pipe but externally as a crome tip. this in my mind might act as a bigger voice trumpet, and this is why i think it might change the level of noise, or even the sound tune-hue.
it might be the same as you try tou shout with your hands in front of your mouth.getting your hands closer you have a different sound with putting them more apart...
but all these are just a quick thought that i have, and might not have any point of writing about, because the sound might be iddentical.
p.s. no offense from my point of view when you tried to make a joke, which i did undersatand , and to be honnest with you, at the back of my head when i was making this stupid thought of the "GT3 voice trumpet", i had a feeling that I might get some more horsepower, by installing these tips...!!!!!!!!!!!!
I think I understand now (sorry, I'm a bit slow). I doubt very much that the tips will change the sound since they are really just a short exhaust pipe that feeds through the tip. I understand that funneling the sound through an increasing diameter pipe can change things but the distance is so short and the actual exhaust pipe is so close to the edge of the tip that it probably won't make any difference at all. On my last car, I got those double round tips (for my 2002 Carrera) and later decided that I didn't like the look. Even those did not change the sound at all. Do you have the older or newer version of the PSE (Porsche Sport Exhaust)? The newer version (based on 2002 and up muffler designs) does sound different than the older version. When you look at the two, the bypass pipes are completely different not only in diameter but in design as is the internals of the muffler. I have to say that on my X51 equipped 2004 Carrera 40 Jahre, the PSE sounds incredible.
By the way, if you didn't expect some kind of smart-*** response to your original post (as mine), you'd have to be crazy
can later PSE for 02- be installed on pre 01 cars?
do not know....
but what will be the diff?
i order the pre 01 PSE, but when i did install it OPC said that they had to make some mod in order to install the PSE. from that i can assume it is the later PSE. what excactly are the differences betrween the pre 01 and after 01 PSE?
sound is incredible, and on my car i have disable the speed sensor cut-off. so PSE operates at all revs and speeds....
I don't believe that either one of the PSE systems requires mods to the car with the exception of the manual switch for the newer one. I have the newer style with no switch (always on) and it required no mods. The two pictures attached show the differences in the bypass pipe design. Note that on the older system, the bypass pipe is smaller in diameter than the newer. As well, the internal design of the mufflers has changed and I believe that this was done when Porsche changed the internal designs on all 2002 (euro, late 2001) cars for the 3.6 engine (to give it more of that "old-school Porsche" sound). See if you can see the actual bypass pipes on your existing mufflers to determine which style you have on your car. (Newer design is the top picture).
well yesterday i did install those GT3 exhaust tips and the sound of my sports exhaust is definetelly deeper!!!!!
of course it is not a totally different sound than before but i must admit that it is different.
On my old Ruf exhaust there was a notable difference between the std 996 tips and the Ruf tips. The Ruf tips were much heavier and a straight design, this definitely "smoothed" out the sound.
I don't have much first hand knowledge about the newer PSE mufflers, externally they look a lot better than the old style, with a completely different "bypass" design. The same cannot be said for the old style PSE, if you look closely they are obviously std mufflers with the side mashed in to clear the valve assembly and a small 5/8" bypass welded in place. Very sloppy workmanship I'm sorry to say. Like someone said, it's a noise maker (albeit a nice noise) with a high price tag.
