Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

IF THEY ARE STILL ON WITH THE SWITCH UNPLUGGED YOU PROBABLY SHOULD CHECK FOR A SHORT.

Thanks but upon disconnecting the connector they do not go out.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

[COLOR=Black]My brake lights are on and will not go off with applying pressure to the brakes or with the ebrake down all the way. I went under the car and pushed on the switch on the brake pedal and it didn't turn the lights off or on. I remember the connector popping off a couple of times before and there is 1 spring in it, however some time ago I found a spring on the ground about the same size. Are there two springs in that connector. Also does it matter what way I put the connector on? there are two tabs. I tried flipping it 180 and nothing. ARGGGGG
What is the problem? On another note my cruize also doesn't work but I haven't thought anything of it. A notable problem with that was said to be the switch under there as well. Anything???? Am I messing with the wrong switch, and is there another that might be simply stuck or something? I don't want to drive the car with the lights on for liability reasons, and it is my daily driver help!!!!!!!!!
DO THE LIGHTS GO OFF WHEN THE SWITCH IS DISCONNECTED?IF SO YOU WILL MOST LIKELY NEED A SWITCH,ALSO IF THE SWITCH IS STUCK ON IT IS PROBABLY SENDING A SIGNAL TO THE CRUISE CONTROL(THIS IS WHY IT WON'T WORK,LIKE HITTING THE BRAKES WITH CRUISE ON.)I HOPE THIS HELPS.
Thanks but upon disconnecting the connector they do not go out. However if the switch operates in the inverse, i.e. if open then they're on then that would make sense to what it is doing. i guess I get to unmount it and take a meter to it.
Check the pedal switch and adjust. Press the pedal and pull the plunger out until it stops. Check if the lights go off when pedal is released. You probably pushed the switch all the way in and it is not supposed to be. There is another switch above the clutch pedal that probably is in the same comdition. That is probably why your cruise doesn't work. By default, the lights remain on.
I was pulling on the wrong connector! I pulled the brake connector instead of the clutch one this time and it killed the lights so the switch is bad. How does that switch attach? I tried to push on it and did until I pumped the brakes enough that I could get my finger in there after!
Release switch by turning it 90and pull it out of the installation opening. Pull operating plunger out of the switch as far as it will go. Reinstall the switch. When installing the switch for the first time, it is essential to press it vertically against the bearing surface. It will otherwise not be possible to lock the switch (90turn), even if great force is exerted.
A play-free fit of the switch is no longer ensured after it has been installed and removed several times. The switch must be replaced by a new switch as soon as it perceptibly "wobbles" in its receiver.
The plunger on the switch SHOULD be out. When the pedal is raised, it presses the plunger in a few mm and the switch is then set. When the pedal is depressed, the plunger travels outward a few mm and the lights go on. You should not have to remove the switch.
I removed the old one by breaking it off before I read your tutorial. I didn't know about the 90 degree thing. I will now go down and turn it 90 degress
