Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Very fun on a twisty road, but what about performance uses for fourth and fifth?
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Okay, I have bought a 2001 Carrera Coupe with 10,000 miles on it. I've had it for 5 months - it's great. The L.A. traffic is just too terrible and I got my Artic Silver beauty with Tiptronic. (For my manual desires I've got my '74 parked a few feet away.)
So I need some tips for my tiptronic. When I'm in the D mode, the shifting points respond well to whatever the situation requires. The M mode is a bit more challenging. I can buzz around in the second or third gear all day long. Very fun on a twisty road, but what about performance uses for fourth and fifth? Any what about the very strange gear of first? What use does it have? Getting out of a snow drift or sand?
Any body have any tips on Tiptronic techniques?
I believe that you should experiment for your self for a while..... Anyhow see if this thread helps:

I just wish the Tip would lose the first geat(which I hardly ever use since I don't drag race) and get another mid gear! The shifting, both up and down, is great. I'd just like to have the engine revs/gear ratio more directed toward the 40-130 mph range!
The problem I see with a tiptronic is the way we use it. Yes it works
great in urban traffic situations and yes it works extremely well in
race conditions. The problem is it can't do both simultaneously. Why?
It takes time for the computer to figure out what we want from it.
It's a great transmission, and you've got the 74 to drive when you feel
like shifting. But seriously, the more you push a tip the more you'll get
in return. Enjoy.
The tip responds to sudden inputs, such as fast depression of the throttle, hard late braking and cornering. I find it best to leave it in the auto mode, and let your right foot dictate what you want the car to do. The manual override is actually harder to control in terms of getting a redline upshift, or a high-rev downshift under braking. It does take a corner or two to get the latter, in full auto. AS
