Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

2 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I am trying to decide between a 1995 c4 cab with 63k miles versus a 2002 cab with low miles - big difference i know. I am looking for a car that will be driven as primary transportation between May and August in the NE (US) and part time the rest of yr (approx 10K per yr with no winters) The C4 is in great shape with a new roof (including frame), new brakes, rotors and calipers all four wheels. Asking price is 35K - I have driven a couple of 2002 996's from dealers that are certified and find the ride to be a little more forgiving than the 993 - but the 993 feels tighter/stronger. I have concerns about the reliability, maintenance costs and depreciation rate of a 10 year old car. The 993 was checked out by a mechanic I know who gives it a clean bill of health. I am not interested in tracking the car - just want something I can drive and have fun with so creature comforts are a consideration. What issues should I look into with the 993? I have heard concerns about problems with valves? Should I be overly concerned about the RMS problem afflicting the 996? Thanks all!!
