I found one in Bay Area Craigslist 2 weeks ago for a great price, looks like new, only reason he sold was after he changed the seats, it didnt work for him.

it's worth noting that if it isn't in stock with Ivan then it's likely a crap shoot...

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hello all and merry Christmas. I tried a search, but could not come up with an answer here so forgive me if this has been covered. I am just curious as to how long those of you that ordered a t96 wheel had to wait to receive it? I ordered a custom one with leather airbag at the end of September as a gift for my wife to put under the tree for me. Its still not here. I have spoken with Ivan a couple of times and been told that its still in production. I am just curious about how long it has taken to receive a custom wheel. I am not digging on dctms in this thread, just getting a little concerned. Thanks everyone.
brad
Hey Brad, unfortunately I can't help as I wasn't even aware of this wheel until finding this thread. But those look AMAZING! Hope it arrives soon --keep us posted. I'm gonna have to nab one of these at some point even if they take a year to get!
I am hoping that it arrives soon. I appreciate the replies. I will keep you posted. I am hoping it turns out as good as the ones I have seen online. Just nervous about the ever stretching timeframe...
brad
Well, no one else may care, but I thought I would update this thread to let you know that I still haven't heard from DCTMS/ Ivan on the wheel that I paid for at the end of September. A few threads on other forums have said it took a long time, but now there is no contact from DCTMS at all. I get no reply to email and no there is no answer to the phone, only a generic voice mail. I have submitted a claim to Paypal at this point. I will certainly post if this gets resolved. I do take exception to paying for an item, being told it will be "about 4 weeks" for fabrication and then being left out in the cold with no communication after 3 1/2 months!!!
quick update. on a fluke I called one last time at the end of the day and Ivan answered this time. He says the vendor he uses for his custom work is having some sort of problem getting product completed. There is apparently no end in sight on the production of my wheel and airbag! uh, ok. we finally agreed that he would send a wheel he has in stock with an alcantara airbag cover for me to see if I want it. I will be able to return it for a refund if I do not like it in person. It is not the best resolution, but it's something and I will keep this thread up to date. it's worth noting that if it isn't in stock with Ivan then it's likely a crap shoot...
Brad
oh wow thank god I read this thread! I was going to send my own CPZ Steering Wheel & Shift **** to be re-done in Alcantara!
They are Fairly Active on Instagram so I don't know why they haven't been transparent , terrible business practice I say.
Aren't they a Sponsor on here? they are a sponsor on 6speedonline that's where I have been communicating with Ivan via PM's
This is the other company I have been in touch with
https://www.instagram.com/exclusiveoption/
they are based out of Mill Valley, CA and have special prices for Rennlist and 6speed Members
I was lucky enough recently to pickup a barely used DCT steering wheel in black leather in the classifieds. I can say that it's a really nice piece, appears very well made. Too bad they are having trouble producing them. IMO this is the best looking non-OEM wheel option for the 996. There are the GT2 wheels which are great but crazy $$$. Most the other aftermarket options I have seen are pretty ugly IMO.
In case youve never done wheel business with DCT Ill tell you how it goes. The work is great. The wheels come back to you great. I had a couple things done and it was near perfect.
What they do is send the wheel to some foreign country, sorry I cant recall if its taiwan, china, hong kong. But in that area. You get the wheel mailed back from there. They usually say it will be 4 weeks total time, but for me it was always 5-6 weeks.
Unless there is some catastrophe, it will get back sooner or later. I would imagine Ivan asks the destination if they have it, when it will be ready, etc and if they never got it, or they sent it long ago and it hasnt got here in due time, he will respond to you that its lost. but if its going normally he just will say, wait.
Dang it, I have typed this 4x and it keeps disappearing! So one more time.
point 1. I am ok with 5-6 weeks. I am not ok with 12-18 weeks and I have paid in full.
point 2. All communication has been initiated by me. 3-4 calls since placing the order and the same with emails. I am not pestering the guy. Until I get no email reply and I get no call backs to voicemails.
point 3. Dec 10 was told wheel was ready, just waiting on airbag. He would check status and call back. Never called and the wheel wasnt done because I would have had him send it yesterday but he doesnt have it.
point 4. I agree that the t96 is the best option out there. Ivan is now sending a wheel at my request for me to look at and see if I want it. If I keep it he will give me a slight discount off of the original purchase price. I will likely send it to dallas to have it recovered on my dime and make it like I wanted initially.
point 4. Ivan DID OFFER A REFUND. This cannot be stressed enough. Mind you this was after our less than pleasant conversation yesterday.
i dont know what all of this means for those considering a steering wheel. Just dont expect it in 4 weeks.

I recently got this wheel in a trade for my stock wheel, PO, claims it is a t96 from dct but the upper portion is continuous, no seem on both sides just above center portion as in all of their wheels that I have seen.
So there must ne some other manufacturer out there.
I know Techart makes them, but I could not find a photo to see in construction method was the same.
Good luck with getting your wheel straightened out.
OP what a mess, they send the wheels out of country? I would get your money back and send your wheel to Dallassteeringwheel.com for recover. Not sure if he has the flat bottom steering wheels but maybe he can steer you, sorry had to, in the right direction. Good luck getting things sorted. Dallas has been around awhile and many RL members have posted good results.
I just wanted to update everyone on what has transpired regarding the DCTMS wheel purchase. I did receive the silver and black T96 wheel with the alcantara airbag cover. The workmanship of the wheel is excellent, but the silver and black isn't quite my cup of tea. I would prefer the all-black wheel that I ordered, but may keep the silver and black as it is in the interest of economics.
The airbag cover in alcantara didn't match well, but I knew that prior to having DCTMS ship the pairing. My thought was that I would at least get a wheel and airbag, which I did. The old adage of a bird in hand is better than two in the bush applies here.
I finally got Paypal involved and through the resolution center I received a refund of 150.00 from DCTMS. I agreed to keep the wheel and airbag cover and all is done. I have already contacted Dallas Custom to correct everything and they assure me it is a 1-2 week process to recover the airbag and wheel. Unfortunately the perforated black leather of the wheel is not close to the factory black airbag, so off the wheel and airbag go to Dallas Custom to see if they can match the perforated leather on the wheel and simply recover the airbag. Otherwise I will end up recovering the wheel and airbag at a cost of about 700-800.
So, in the end this will cost about 1600.00 to get the exact wheel I want, including the recover from Dallas Custom. Or, 1100-1150.00 if Dallas Custom can match the perforated leather of the wheel. It's been a hassle, but I did get a very nice wheel and an airbag cover that I can get recovered.
Perhaps DCTMS can sort out their production issues. I know that the quality of the wheel is very good. Communication is mediocre at best, but DCTMS did meet me somewhat in the middle for a satisfactory resolution. I'd give a 6-7 out of 10 on this one. I have certainly had worse experiences, but I do wish I had gotten what I had ordered and paid for in a timely manner.
I hope this helps others considering this upgrade. I'll post pics once the wheel is finished and installed. Please be patient, it may be a while...
Brad
DCTMS just posted pictures on IG after a long time of a Steering Wheel for Huracan which looks sooooooo sexy!
Maybe they are back in Business after some complications
anyways I'm going with DCSW instead as per Hardbacks recco
I live by DCT and was going to buy a steering wheel and airbag cover from them. I ended up going by their shop and he loved my car (996 with PCCB). He said he wanted to sponsor me in exchange for using my car for photos of rims he was going to produce. When I followed up with the specific wheel I wanted he never responded. I set an additional 5 email and a bunch of calls and no response. It is a very poor business with bad practices. I later read reviews on other boards and many other people who purchased things and never got what they ordered and never got responses back. The wheels look awesome, but not worth losing the $1,500+.
As a final update, here's a picture installed with the airbag from Dallas steering wheels. I think it looks good with my seal grey center console and carbon fiber trim pieces. Don at dallas was great to work with and had everything back to me in under a week. Now i have am extra alcantara airbag cover and module. Anyone interested?
I can give you an update on DCT today. Tomorrow will be three months since I sent a tiptronic core to Ivan. Very little contact since then. Any advice would be appreciated.
it took also a while (3-4months) for me to receive the steering wheel. Mine got directly shipped from a Taiwanese leather workshop. So that is probably where it is made.
For the rest I am super happy with the quality and feel (metropole blue standard leather with white ribbon). It could a bit more sticky at the hands but probably that will get better over time.
I was aware of the delays and bad communication. So I paid via PayPal in order to get my money back eventually. Or use the buyers protection via your CC company or e-bay? It is a hassle indeed. Poor service. But great steering wheel.
I've used both. DCT steering wheel is near perfect but poor communication and take too long.
Dallas custom great communication and fast turnaround. It's always been within 10 days including shipping. He does it inhouse. Work is not "perfect" compared to DCT.
That said I will probably putting my black T96 tip wheel up for sale soon.
Businesses seem to have very good communication when trying to get your business. I am currently in a similar situation, but with getting my E-brake redone. E-mails came in quick when asking questions, but now that he has my E-brake, communication has dropped off.
So I sympathize.
I'm sorry you all are having issues but search this and the other forum. Issues go back many many years with many complaints. I don't care whatever custom car part it is 3+months is unacceptable. Hopefully paypal or cc payment and you can charge back.
So I sent my wheel to Donald at DCSW he got it on Tuesday and he emailed me today with it being Complete and its being shipped back to be tonight for tomorrow
Pictures look excellent! 2 day to complete the work? cant beat that
Highly recommend the T96 wheel.
This is Metropol Blue - ordered on eBay, took 2.5 months but well worth the wait and cost. Leather feels and looks great, love the smaller diameter (can keep hands at 9 & 3 longer in turns), thicker rim and perforations. This updates the car so much vs old one which felt large, thin and old hard leather. This wheel feels like you are in a modern car. Also if you are tall (I'm not) it seems like a no-brainer for the added leg clearance.
I found one in Bay Area Craigslist 2 weeks ago for a great price, looks like new, only reason he sold was after he changed the seats, it didnt work for him.
Lead time from DCT for my T96 with airbag finished was only 2 days for mine I recently purchased. I opted to keep my original steering wheel and purchase a complete without a core exchange. I assume it was already in stock ready to go. Its amazing how much more comfortable and roomy the car is with the center console delete and the new wheel being on the taller side.
