Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

My favorite tire is the old style Corsa (continuous groove), which is now out of production and replaced with the less grippy Corsa System.

I have run 235/40 and 295/30 MPSCs and 235/40 and 315/30 Corsas with good success.

I ran 275 Toyo's (RA-1'a) for 2 years on 9' wheels all around on my M3 for two years and tried both the 245 and 275 tire width on those 9' wheels and found very little difference in overall grip, however the 275's took a little longer to overheat and get slick.

I ask because I was always under the impression that Toyo's ran rather big for the advertised size.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Track tire selection depends on a lot of factors: desired performance, desired tire life, suspension setup and wheels. My current setup is 18x9"/18x11" CCW 3-piece Classic Race Wheels with 255/35 and 315/30 Toyo R888s with -2.2/-2.0 camber. These tires have a softer compound, higher operating temperature and softer sidewalls than most of the other race tires. As a result, you have to run substantually more pressure in them. Hence despite the softer compound, I don't get a grip benefit due to the smaller contact patch. I would not recommend to run this setup with R888s. R888s need to be streched on a rim to work right. I will be switching to 235/40's and 295/30's R888s on my next tire swap.
I have run 235/40 and 295/30 MPSCs and 235/40 and 315/30 Corsas with good success. If you are running stock GT3 wheels, this setup with MPSCs will give you godo tire life, drive consistantly smooth and be very fast. My favorite tire is the old style Corsa (continuous groove), which is now out of production and replaced with the less grippy Corsa System. If I could get them, I would get a set of 255/35 and 315/30 old style Corsas.
You statd you had lack of grip due to a smaller contact patch...are you referencing the fact that the pressures were higher resulting in a smaller contact patch?
I ask because I was always under the impression that Toyo's ran rather big for the advertised size. For instance I just purchased a set of 295/30/18 R888's for the rear of my car and the tread width measurement on the Toyo's is 11.8 where as the tread width on a 315/30/18 Hoosier is only 11.6 making the footprint of the 295 Toyo wider than the Hoosier (taking wheel width etc out of the equation.).
