This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hello Everyone, I'm a 964 owner who is considering \ calculating if I can afford to become a 996 owner. Based on my initial research I am hoping to be able to afford a 2002 C2. With the fall on it's way and the inevitable snow which follows that, if I were to wait until the spring before buying what are my potential savings (in your opinions ???) over buying now and enjoying the car for a couple of months. What impact will rolling into 2005 have on the cost of a 2002 ? What will be the impact on cost when the 997 is released ? I believe it's coming Aug 28th ? What's the best region in the US to buy - I've noticed that TX cars seem to be cheaper - any reason why ? Thanks for your responses in advance, Andy

POST 2Original post

Virtually any recent model car will be less expensive next year than this year. A typical car loses appx. 50% of its value in the first 4 to 5 years. This is true of P-cars as well, though I suspect the GT3 and TT may hold up better. And new models tend to cause a brief increase in the depreciation rate, unless the new model is substantially more expensive than the old one. Demand for p-cars varies in different states. The demand in Texas is relatively low, compared to here in SoCal. I can sometimes go a whole day there and never see one! Whether you get it now or later, enjoy!
