Leading evidence: 'radio itself' (1 discussions report identifying this cause; no attributable repair resolution). Across 1 matching discussions, the most frequently mentioned possible cause is 'radio itself' (1 discussions; 1 report identifying it and 0 suggest it). The most frequently discussed action is 'Check fuse' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

No loose connections and I even unplugged and replugged all three connectors and checked the fuse.

On my 2000 C4 Cab I just replaced my steering wheel lock (comes with new ignition switch) with a new OEM unit.

I doubt it would be the cylinder since everything lined back up the same as it was before (hole to disengage the lock that holds it in place and the plug portion.) Before I try to take the switch out since I will more than likely have to remove the whole lock assembly to get the switch out, Im going to check the radio to see if I knocked some wiring loose while removing my HVAC control unit to replace the LCD screen.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I ordered a refurbished CDR220 radio from Becker and that has resolved my issue.
On my 2000 C4 Cab I just replaced my steering wheel lock (comes with new ignition switch) with a new OEM unit. I replaced it because i have had a battery drain and my radio stays on even after shutting off the car and locking it. As of the time of me writing this the radio has been on for almost ten minutes. Also, the horn beeps once every time I lock it and it hasnt done that before and my fuel gauge is reading zero and I know I have fuel in it. Any insight would be greatly appreciated.
Yes, everything I unplugged has been plugged back in (headlight switch, emergency flasher switch, key cylinder, signal transducer, ignition switch, and three plugs on the back of the cluster.) The fuel gauge is the only thing in the cluster that isnt right. Im going to fill the tank when I get a chance and see if it resolves itself. I dont know why the car beeps once a few seconds after locking the car and why the radio still wont turn off by itself. Ive had someone say its a microswitch but I guess I would have to replace both door micro switches and the center console micro switch.
They can all be read with a piwis system. U can make your own clone system for under $100.
Im my case i had an issue with the immo unit under the drivers seat. Ecudocs reflowed the board to fix some cracks.
If you have no luck finding anyone with a PIWIS,
another option would be to remove the ignition switch from the ignition lock. That should disconnect the radio etc. from terminal 86s.
There is a spring loaded pin on the switch that when compressed sends power to radio, etc.
So removing switch from back of ignition lock should drop power to 86s ie. radio, etc.
If that works your new ignition lock would have a fault of some sort.
As Dejeeper notes you could also have an alarm module that got wet. Check for water under drivers seat.
Thank you. Itll be a pain to get the switch off the new lock since there is some red stuff (not sure if some type of wax or epoxy) covering the two set screws that hold it in place.
That red stuff on screw heads is just some crusty paint as I remember.
Take a small flat bladed screw driver and scrape that stuff off. Clean slot in screw head and remove screws.
You could, but you would need to employ a ohm meter to test the switch and its relationship to the ignition lock.
Your best bet is to unplug the wiring from the back of the switch, remove the switch from ignition lock, plug the wires back onto switch.
Then reconnect the battery and see if radio is energized. If it is your switch is at fault, if not
the mechanical ignition lock has a problem.
You could also remove the key cylinder first to see if that has some how jammed up the ignition lock.
Thank you. I replaced the screen about 6-7 months ago and I didnt notice this problem with the radio prior.
Update but unfortunately still havent found the culprit. I just received my radio removal tools and removed the radio. No loose connections and I even unplugged and replugged all three connectors and checked the fuse. I still have the same problem. Oh well, guess I have to make sure the radio is manually turned off when I get out of the car.
Its been a while but I have finally found the culprit! It was the radio itself. I ordered a refurbished CDR220 radio from Becker and that has resolved my issue. Thank you for your help.

Always good to see a resolution, thanks for the update.
I have had the fuel gauge drop when voltage drops, the cluster cant tell the difference (no pun intended) between the change in resistance with fuel level and out and out voltage drop on the battery. It could likely be compensated, but alas, I havent seen a car that is. The fuel gauge assumes the charging system is working.
