Gallardo is a great car, but lots of blind spots, can't see changing lanes on the highway, very very rough around town, shifts rough at low speeds, lots of driveline backlash.

The only prob with that is I was sort of looking forward to a change of shape in the car.

I'm really surprised at these Fcar responses....maybe ask the same in the turbo camp (where turbos crush 360s and stage 1 turbos run w/ fgallardos).

Oh yes, letys talk performance, The Gallardo absolutely CRUSHES the 360 in every comprehensible test of speed/handling/sound etc.
These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

From what I have read, it seems to be a more dependable car (audi/VW parts), its all wheel drive ( so you can use it more) and a little more unique than a 360 and a super car you can use all the time That ought to get the flames roaring!
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Thinking of getting another car and got it down to 2 cars:
Lambo Gallardo
http://www.seriouswheels.com/pics-20...s-1024x768.jpg
or Ferrari 360
http://www.car-wallpaper.net/ferrari...llenge-001.jpg
Which one gets your votes guys?
Personally I'd go with the Lambo, bc it's something I've always wanted as a kid. There are, however, some very nice attributes for both options. Good luck picking the right one for you.
Because the Lambo is basically a cheese car. You never see it raced like Porsche and Ferrari (and the latter is general company sponsored). The lambo is all show.
Head says : Ferrari
Heart says : Lambo.
I've always wanted a lambo as a child. Its like a spaceship or a time machine. The ferrari is more of a technical car (from what I've heard) and the engineering is better than lambo.
I guess you can't go wrong with either.
you're in a position to make such a decision (wow! Ferrari or Lambo
) !! I'm still such a long way off. I hope to be there before 30 ...
Yeah, it looks a bit tiddly and square finished to me. I like the lambo and then suddenly it looks like a japanese car. I would really like the murcielgo because the way those doors open upwards is just dead cool but it would be an extra 30 to 40k.
The 360 for me unless your talking about a Diablo roadster then I would take that over the 360. Although I would take a 360 CS over all of the above. lol, what a dangerous road we going down now.
Neither, save your money for something else and get a GT3. Performance wise, your there, reliability wise, your ahead of the game and in the looks dept, well...
If you HAVE to get one......
360CS, just because its a classic (sort of) and a very capable track car.
Then, it's Lambo ALL the way. From what I have read, it seems to be a more dependable car (audi/VW parts), its all wheel drive ( so you can use it more) and a little more unique than a 360 and a super car you can use all the time That ought to get the flames roaring!
Just don't get an orange or lime green one.
Finally, the racing bit is not true. I read a tread recently, that a Gallardo won its class in the JRL, a first for Lambo!
Ferrari since it would still look great 10yrs down the road. Not so sure about the Lambo. It's too futuristic for me. However, I would take a Lambo Diablo over the 360 though.
- Ahsai
The answer would most likely be "depends".
What do you want it for?
I absolutely love the lambo shapes, and there are not many around vs. how many ferraris you see.
Drove a Gallardo not long ago, and it was a bit of a letdown. It has lost some of the "italian feeling". Inside might as well be in an Audi. Everything works, looks nice, doesnt squeak - but isnt very excotic. On the outside Lambo for sure. Its a total looker. Except for the missing lambo doors.
The Ferrari 360 is a great car though inside and outside. Not as exotic, but great none the less.
"That is why I would never get a gallardo. If your going to have a Lambo you better get the Lambo doors."
Sort of like buying a boxter because you cannot afford the 911
Oh - no matter which of the cars you get. Be prepared for "the italian feeling" in your wallet too. :-)
Clutch needs replacement very often in the Gallardo, and its not cheap
Well the feeling I get is these cars are further up the food chain. I got my porsche 8 months ago and love it but I am ready to spend the extra to the next level.
Would love to hear from someone that went p car to ferrari/lambo or owns one alongside a porsche at the moment.
Nice problem to have, making this choice. I might go with a Ford GT just to be different. But, if pressed - Ferrari. Interestingly, one of my favorites was/is the 288 GTO. Uncommon and badass, but not typical Ferrari as it was turbocharged.
I'm driving both this weekend, well a F430 and a Gallardo. I've let you know.
Right now, I haven't driven either) I would choose Ferrari, better resale and seems to be more reliable.
IMHO, Lambos are for posers. Lambos have no racing heritage. Ferraris are the ticket. Faster is not always better, got to have some soul. Again guys, this is my personal take for what that is worth.
If I was you I stayed away from Italian cars ... they are beautifull, everything else ... forget it (Ive oned a few and everytime I regret it) !
Get a REAL car, a GT3 or, if you want something classier an Aston Martin !

"You buy a Ferrari when you want to be somebody. You buy a Lamborghini when you are somebody." - Frank Sinatra Sinatra
I really like the Challenge Stradale (I can live with wanting to be somebody).
I have always wanted a lambo, but the ferrari just makes more sense.... Really, if you are going to invest that much in something that is for your own pleasure/recreation, it doesn't matter which one is technically better... which would you enjoy owning more?
While both cars are great cars I'm sure, If I were in the position to make this decision, (which I am not even remotely close to, btw), I would pick the 360. And here is my reasoning.
Lambo designs to me feel very overstyled and lacking refinement. Very showy. They are very 'in-your-face' like they are trying to be futuristic cool looking or something but with little 'real' purpose to it. I look at Countach's, which I loved when I was young, and now they just scream 1980's to me. Sure, you see the ferrari 308 or Testarossa which are kind of dated but even those to me still have more dignity than any Lamborghinis even now.
When I look at the 360 it just has a very refined, classy, and timeless look to it - like you wouldn't know if it was built in 1965, 1980, or 2005 if you didn't know better. Something you would feel proud to leave to your children. It's the same reason someone would buy a 10 year old 911 over, say, a nissan 350z. The 911 look is just overall a timeless, classy design (which is probably why they rarely drastically change it).
Oh, and the racing heritage. When a company invests in racing like Porsche and Ferrari, you know they're not just blowing smoke for show. They mean business. I feel like a lamborghini would fit in perfectly in Vegas.
There. That's my opinion.
360. Something about lambo hints at possibility of looking dated in 10 years. Paradoxically, futuristic cars, buildings, etc, don't "age" well, in my opinion, with a few exceptions. A great dilemma, though - I'm envious.
Racing heritage - dont forget that you are actually talking about Audi here. Winner of the last many Le Mans. Just because the shell is a Lambo, the tech is still very Audi
Porsche vs Corvette = Ferrari vs Lambo
Easy argument. Sure the Lambo is fast, but it is a cheese factor D-bag car. Ferrari is well the pinnacle of the performance car world. Ultimately the Lambo is a good car too, but it still isn't a Ferrari. Just like the Vette. Really a great car for the money, but not a Porsche.
Ferrari forever!
A 360 Modena is a great sporty car. The Lamborghini Gallardo is an excellent car, but it's made from VAG group with the same engine as a VW Phaeton modified. Ferrari is more authentic, and it's pure passion
Lambo is Audi, or just a image/brand buy...?
Snip from this article:
http://archives.tcm.ie/irishexaminer.../15/fbhead.htm
"Every child knows the name Lamborghini. It is in every packet of Top Trumps (children's card game). Lamborghini's image will fit in with us very well," an Audi spokesman said.
Audi would become much more international through the purchase of Lamborghini, while the purchase of the marque would play a major role in completing Audi's range of luxury sports cars, the spokesman said. Car analyst Ulrich Horstmann at Merck Finck agreed with the group's opinion that Lamborghini was a good fit. "After buying Rolls-Royce (Motor Cars), VW is well positioned in the luxury segment of the market. Lamborghini, with its sporty character, sits very well with Rolls-Royce's more conservative image," Horstmann said.
Exactly true! I see WAY MORE lambos than ferrari's around here. In this armpit of a town vanity runs way out of control and lambo does for those with the need for image.
My first advice is to drive both first. I also recommend you look at a couple other cars: an F550, which is in the same price range, a 996/997 Turbo or a 996/997 GT3. Despite all the Ferrari votes, between these 2 I would go with the Gallardo. After driving the Ferrari, drive your 911. You will be pretty shocked about how little performance difference you will notice. There are some things you may not even like about it. The brake pedal has a more pressured feel and it isn't very fast unless you rev it to death. The Gallardo is a tighter and easier to live with car. The controls are more fluid. It weighs more and feels like it, but is far more solid. Of course it has over 100 hp from a much bigger engine and 4WD to put it down with, so it is still quite a bit quicker. The engine always feels strong regardless of the rpms it is at.
Driving the F550, is very different experience from the F360. Your legs have room. All the controls move smoothly. The V12 feels a lot like the Viper V10 with lots of torque, it just revs more. It is smooth and stable all the time at any speed. It is definitely a grand tourer, but you could easily drive it daily.
You could also save some money (depending on year and options) upgrading the Porsche route. Low mileage 04' GT3's are now in the low $80's. If you are looking for the hard edged sports car, these are hard to beat. The new 415 hp GT3 will be arriving around August. It is a good time to start getting a deposit in on one of the 500 that will be made for 2007. You could also move up to a 996 Turbo. You could find a nice low mileage X50 car with far better performance than any of the cars listed above for under $100K. Upgrading to 600 hp would be a pretty easy step this way. The first of the new Turbos will be hitting in June. Waiting lists are already in place, you may still be able to find a dealer thatn can get you in early. Last, you could consider a Ruf. Have fun test driving and making the decision.
Ferrari's and Lambo's are both for posers!!! Man would I love to be a poser!!
I drove a Gallardo...and have to say that I liked the way is drove....the interior is very german!! And have driven a Ferrari and loved the sound and the way it looks...bt I am always afraid of breakling something in it!! Everything looks so delicate, while a Porsche and a Lambo look more solid and feel more solid too.
My heart says Ferrari.
Avoid the Lambo, unless you like visiting it in the workshop. The 360 is better but you already have made the right choice. The GT3 is good advice. Try catching up with the latest series of Top Gear. A 360 is taken on a road trip and performs well against a Zonda, Ford GT, BMW M6 and Aston DB7. But which car beats the crap out of all of them driven by 'The Stig" on a wet road in the country. You guessed it, the much more underpowered Porsche 997 by over 7secs.
Porsche Rules OK
I am sorry, that's not quite correct. Top Gear put the 997S against a BMW M6 and an Aston DB9 on a very "wet road in the country" and the 997 did indeed come first. Which is not entirely surprising, as the M6 weighs 1,830kgs and the DB9 1,683 kgs, compared to the 997's 1,420 kgs.
There have been no head-to-head tests, that I know off, between the 997 and the F430 or Gallardo. Their "Ring" times at 7.59, 7.55 and 7.52 respectively, indicate the 997 would come last.
A Porsche 997 S is infinitely more sporty than a BMW M6 and a AM DB9
The relationship between power/weight is balanced to the 997
Sport cars are distinguished from the ones that not, in the weight stuff
Do you believe that a 500 HP car is a sport car?
I don't think so....
racing heritage...blha blah
thats why MOST ferraris spend their entire life uin a garage.
Ferraris are for pseurs, lambos are for rich guys that crave the "in your face" look.
Yes, if you find a lambo too be overstyled..its thej wrong car for you.
Oh yes, letys talk performance, The Gallardo absolutely CRUSHES the 360 in every comprehensible test of speed/handling/sound etc.
I'm really surprised at these Fcar responses....maybe ask the same in the turbo camp (where turbos crush 360s and stage 1 turbos run w/ fgallardos).

Having driven both cars:
Gallardo- Pros: More power, great handling, Newer cars come with warranty, E-Gear is awsome, I love the pearl orange color
Cons: Feels like a upscale Audi, No soul, You will be hit hard with depriciation, I'm not crazy about the looks, I '06 retails for about $200K, or you can pick up a '04 for around $140
360- Pros: Absolute Eye Candy, Unbleivable Sound, Great feel, Strong resale vaule ( car has aprrectited over the past 6 months with the shortage of 430s),
Cons: Power is strong, but a Gallardo would kick its *** in a straight line, 15K tune up for $5,000
I would go for the 360, On the other hand if you are going to spend over 200K, then I would go for a Used Murci. Power, braking, handling, and the Gawk factor is unreal. Depends on what you are looking for
never drove a 306 but drove a F430 Ferrari and Gallardo this weekend. F430 blew it away, much faster, great exhaust sound, great intake sound, great seats, etc. Bother were paddle shifters, the F430 shifted as fast a you could pull the trigger. Never was a fan of the paddle before this weekend.
Gallardo is a great car, but lots of blind spots, can't see changing lanes on the highway, very very rough around town, shifts rough at low speeds, lots of driveline backlash.
hands down, the ferrari
i think posting a question about buying F or L is not really the right way for buying a car in this size. . . well better compare leasing conditions first . . .
anyway, i don't like lambo in cause of all this audi stuff in it. i drove a couple of audis as company cars - i can't stand it driving with the same buttons aso. like my daily driver has...
but anyway, reat your statement about 993 and older. you don't like older cars. that means a 360 must be gone for you...
i personally love 360 but i don't like to get one. this car is for posers, a porsche is for driving. met so many people they hold ther f-car just for maintance and invitations to maranello. nobody is really "using" those cars.
btw - i still hold my c2 996, but i have way more fun in 964
i know, bunnies like the newer ones, but i am not a bunny.
You know, since posting this, I am now really considering a GT3 or turbo. The only prob with that is I was sort of looking forward to a change of shape in the car. There is no real alternative. I would not go down to a cayman or boxter. The GT is still too far up the food chain for me, so it has to be another 911. Although I love the shape of a porsche, with a gt3 I am going to upgrade the internal organs only and get a mean spoiler on the back. I guess I need a week back in a boring bimma or something to make me see sense
