You'll probably get some votes to put coilovers on it, but that's overkill unless you're planning on tracking it regularly and changing your ride height and damping all the time, which also requires realigning it.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Just picked up this 01 Slate Gray C2 Cab yesterday after a clean PPI. WOW!!! What a blast it is! Found out through the PPI that it has the Fabspeed exhaust...sounds AWESOME!
First mods I am considering:
- New rims and rubber (probably a more aggressive 5 spoke 18-19"), so I may have the factory 18" Sport Designs for sale soon.
- remoteTop - already hate having to "manually" hold the buttons to put top and windows down.
- possibly lowering/sport springs
- new black convertible top
- Parrot 3200 phone system
Any other suggestions?
Looking forward to enjoying the heck out of this car and contributing (and learning from) this great message board!
996convert Thanks! Oh yeah, forgot about that...I would like to add that, but worried about doing it myself...I'm not that mechanically inclined...we'll see!
After driving it now for a day and a half, I know now that I HAVE to switch out the springs (and possibly the struts)! I am coming out of a 98 750 Bimmer that I added sport springs to (and always drove with the Sport EDC on) and I believe it handled better than my new 911...sounds crazy I know, but it definitely feels "mushier". Go figure!
If you really want to improve the handling the most, put some H&R springs and some Bilstein HD struts on it. This does make the ride pretty firm though. You'll probably get some votes to put coilovers on it, but that's overkill unless you're planning on tracking it regularly and changing your ride height and damping all the time, which also requires realigning it. Your simplest and best option is to just change to the ROW M030 setup. Best compromise of handling and ride comfort, and a definite improvement over stock.
welcome to the site. That car looks great. Fabulous interior, I have never seen one like that.
As for mods. I like your wheels. B&M SSK is a must do and include power agency linkage while you are there. I get all my work done at the garage as I am not mechanically minded. Upgrading the filter I found helps, but thats subjective. wait for reviews on the new K$N cold air kit.
Read the current threads on suspension and make your own mind up. I confused on that one but thats my next mod. Most of all, drive the bloody thing.
There are no stupid questions, only stupid answers.
A coilover is a one piece unit that includes both the shock and strut. It's usually threaded on the outside of the shock body with a large nut that allows you to set the ride height of the car since the spring rests on the nut. They also can offer adjustability for rebound and/or compression. Here's a pic of the popular and oft-mentioned PSS9:

The nut I referred to is the black piece on the strut body.
This photo is of a full-out race coilover:

The remote reservoir is a very advanced features found in only the most expensive coilovers. Normally the reservoir is internal. I figured I'd post this pic too since it really gives a good description of the features.
Good advice. I'm not going to track it, so the H&R/Bilstein may be the option I will go for. I have been reading alot of the discussion on this, and I am used to the firmness (my 750 was pretty firm too, which I liked). Any suggestions on the best prices for this setup? Thanks!
Thanks! Yeah, the interior I thought looked great, which is why I paid a little more than what the discussion here was for this particular model (hey, it's just money right?
) As for the wheels, they are growing on me, so I may leave them, for now. I'll keep an eye our for the K&N kit. Thanks!!!
