Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi guys, I need help from S. California 996 owners with other than stock muffler for a sound comparison. Need to get an opinion on the current exhaust setup and comparison. TIA

POST 2Original post

I have GHL normals and like it. In general I don't like it that loud and I have heard Fabspeeds and it was a little more throaty. I actually want to hear the Dansk for a comparison. You'll actually have to have them side by side for a better comparison.

POST 3Original post

I would also love to hear these mufflers side by side, please let me know if we can get a meeting together. I have always wondered where the S. Ca. meets are...

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Great! Currently I think I got a pretty good setup, just want some other's opinion and comparison. What I have is slightly louder with a hint of deep tone at idle, as soon as you step on the gas pedal (even at partial throttle), it whales. If I full throttle it then it just screams, but not a boommy sound, but a higher pitch thirty screaming sound. So far I can't get it to produce any negative resonance, and throttle response is better than stock. I am in City of industry, Chino hills area. I am fairly close to monterey park. Right now my schedule is telling me that I am free on Sunday morning.

POST 5Original post

Hey Robin, I'm up in Glendora. If you're open this weekend PM me - we can meet at a Starbucks in San Dimas or Chino Hills.

POST 6Original post

Hmm, I'd like to hear a comparo too. Are any of you planning on going to the PCA Concours in Marina Del Rey this Sunday? -Mike

POST 7Original post

I'm in newport and have the PSE if you want to compare. PM me if you want.

POST 8Original post

Sorry guys its a bad weekend for me as my wife is going out of town for a wedding and I have to watch the little ones. Actually the good news is that I don't have to go to the wedding and me and the kids could mess up the house. I'll be more then glad to meet with some of you guys, but not this weekend.

POST 9 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Sorry, wasn't planning on attending the concour. Didn't even know about it. Maybe we need to setup a comparo on the west side as a separate gathering.

POST 10Original post

I recently modded stock 2003 C4S mufflers for my 99 996. Sounds super and would have liked to share that. But you guys are too far from San Diego !! cheers !

POST 11 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I don't mind meeting you half way? Or even go down to Ocean side.. Really would like some real world comparison. Which method did you go in the mod? internal or external?

POST 12Original post

I have the full PSE and live in the Diamond Bar area too. My car is currently being serviced at Walter's, but should be back this weekend. Mine is a '03 C-2, 6-speed (Silver/blk interior).

POST 13Original post

dangit, I would join, but I will be out of town for 2 weeks!!

POST 14Original post

Hey guys., hi robin, long time no talk, did you get your electrical worked t on the 993? I would love to hear some exhaust too, I'm in the need for a louder one. When are you guys getting together? I'm in Corona/Chino area, free Sunday possibly

POST 15 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Jeremy, Yes the 993 electrical problem is fixed. Turned out to be a simple original Porsche brand battery, put a cheapo $50 Costco battery in the car and it's work great now. Go figures.... and I nearly yanked the whole car apart, who would have guessed that a new battery from the dealer would have an intermitten problem. I think I finally cracked the 996 exhaust system code, would love some opinion and comparison. I am free on Sunday to meet anywhere.
