Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

8 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

  • Rennlist: 1 discussions

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi, Just wondering if anybody has had a tiptronic failure in a 996 (99).

POST 2Original post

What do you mean by failure? Does is slip or does it not work at all? I had issues a few months ago but a change in fluid fixed them. I also had some other problems after tracking the car. I disconnected the battery and the transmission relearned my driving style and fixed itself. I also have a '99 with about 63K miles on it.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

A bearing on the front pump seized and then a seal burst causing a lot of fluid to leak out. The car still moved, at least enough to get it on a trailer and bring it to the dealer. Car has 40k miles.

POST 4Original post

Yikes, I had heard the tips were bulletproof...

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Yep I looks like I just had a bad one. I've asked Reiser at the PCA and some tuning folks and they are all surprised. The tuning guy said he's supercharged a 996 with tip and it holds up fine. The only news from the tuners is to change/flush the tranny fluid yearly if you drive it hard. Porsche normally recommends 100k miles before a change.

POST 6Original post

The 02 I just bought had the tip replaced last December for shifting problems. Porsche paid for it under warranty?

POST 7 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Did you have CPI or was it factory warranty?
