As for the car, is it at a P-Car dealer or just some run of the mill used car lot?

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hello, old friends. Its time again to get your vote on the following:

Dealer is asking around $45k. My budget is around $40k
So, what do y'all think?
If you paid that much money for a 2000 in that kind of a condition, you'd be crazy. Do you realize how many brand new cars you can buy with four year, 50K miles warranties for around $45K? I believe the base M3 is around $48K, and for that price you get free maintenance for the duration of the warranty..
I don't know what state or country you might be in, but in most states, the dealer could not sell you a car that had tires under 50%, and required brake pad replacement.
Anyone who would pay anywhere close to the asking price of this vehicle, should check the type of glue they have been sniffing.

thanks for the feedback. The dealer is willing to throw in exotic warranty ($50 deductible) for 3 years, and make all the necessary repairs indicated on the inspection if I purchase it for $45k. I think this is still a little high.

You realize that the admin can give you a new user id/email, etc to you your old login.
As for the car, is it at a P-Car dealer or just some run of the mill used car lot? Where are you located?
A new m3 is closer to 57k, but fast is still right that car is off by about 8-10 grand. You'll find a 2000 for about 37-40k easy right now, and in a lot better condition than that one.
Price seems too high - I bought a 2000 Cabriolet with CPO Warranty and brand new Pirelli's on 18 inch rims and some other decent factory options 6 months ago - the car has no leaks and even if it did, most are covered - I bought the car for 45k and it is in very good condition (knock on wood).
Perhaps a good thread to get some opinions. I've been wanting to trade up for an 02+. Dealer will give me over wholesale, but I would be paying him over retail, so real price for my car is wholesale. What should I ask if I sell it myself.
2000 49,600 miles. Black, black full leather, dual power seats, driver memory, litronics, PSM, Tiptronic, CF steering wheel/shif ****. Water pump recently failed and since it was there and replacing serpentine belt, had plugs replaced, and pretty much evrything else included in 60k service, new tires, choice of three sets of wheels. I am second owner and purchased from original, all records. No history of RMS, no leaks, only problem I've had is water pump and ignition switch. Front bumper cover shows the 49k and hood has its share of rock chips. Paint still glossy, from 10 feet looks new, but does have black swirl disease except right after I wax it. Interior shows very little wear.
Wholesale is 32 and change. I hate to let it go for that, but if private sale doesn't net more than 3k difference, then it will end up costing me, advertising, time, and tax wise. In GA you only pay sales tax on the difference between sale price and trade in allowance. As far as what shape it's in, that is hard to communicate. To me, excellent is new or concourse quality, and my car is a driver. I would call it almost very good because of the paint chips on the hood. I would have it painted, but that always leaves people wondering why paint work was done. I see 2000s priced in the 40s on auto trader, but I don't believe anyone is actually getting that.
No not a Ford dealer. Porsche dealer, who is offering me a very good trade in price, but their CPOs are way over priced and you just can't get around it with a trade. Dealers think everyone is stupid and I realize their trade in allowance is totally bogus. I went to look at the Caymans and saw this C4S that I just can't seem to quit thinking about.
